  • Peaceful touring site within the grounds of a Georgian country estate
  • A 15-minute drive to Snape Maltings, and 25 minutes to Aldeburgh
  • Adults-only grass pitches in an oak meadow near local pubs
Seeking a secluded spot to slow the pace of life? Glevering Estate has a small caravan and motorhome site on a family-run farming estate with uninterrupted views across the Suffolk countryside. It’s adults-only, set in a meadow framed by woodlands and – best of all – it’s in the centre of the lovely grounds of Georgian Glevering Hall. Most mornings, birdsong will wake you, and later hopefully you’ll catch a special Suffolk sunset. Stroll across open fields to Wickham Market for bits and pieces from the local shops, or head to Easton for lunch, dinner or a drink in the pub or to explore their landscaped garden. Historic Woodbridge and Framlingham (15 minutes' drive, or roughly 30 minutes by bike) are within easy reach. On site, there are facilities like drinking water and chemical waste disposal, as well as handy features like a dog kennel where you can drop off your pet for a few hours of solo exploration, firepits to hire and a small hut with a fridge, freezer and honesty shop (butter, milk, bread, local bacon, free-range eggs, chutneys and jams are all regularly stocked). If you're a sporty sort, plenty of golf clubs are available locally, including Glevering Mill on the edge of the estate, a 9-hole par-3 course. The village also has tennis courts that can be hired, while watersports companies based on three nearby rivers make it possible to try out sailing, paddleboarding and canoeing. There are just a few house rules: two well-behaved dogs per pitch are welcome (on leads at all times, please). Barbecues and firepits are permitted, but on very hot summer days you may be asked to stop lighting fires as a safety precaution, as there are crops nearby. Please note that this site has no toilet or shower facilities.

Power optional grass caravan site

Liked: The pitch , perfect 16A hook up and water . Sandra was super helpful, and nothing was too much trouble, and very friendly . The location was great, a lovely setting , woke to the sounds of owls and pheasants. The pitch was level and grass well trimmed. We took our bikes and were able to explore Easton and Framlingham which were just a short ride away, as was the pub which was great for food ( The White Horse) . Do reserve ahead as it can be busy. . There is lots to do in the area and we will be back . Thank-you for your help and kindness Sandra .

Disliked: The information hut was a little tired (like us, after 3 days of non stop biking !) and needs refreshing and a lick of paint, although I do need to mention we arrived at the end of the season .

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Many thanks for your positive review - good to hear you enjoyed the bird chorus and local bike rides. The White Horse seems to be a hit with everyone and not too long a walk across the estate to the quiet lane to the edge of the village. Believe I explained due to only one or two caravans coming in October I had turned the freezer /fridge off as contents don't seem to required after September. Also the damp weather seems to make the information leaflets become limp and uninteresting !!! Rest assured the annual lick of paint is on the calendar!!! Look forward to your inspection next year !

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked: Surroundings were beautiful with lovely walks in the grounds. Not too far to walk to the nearby villages with lovely cafes and pubs

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Many thanks Megan for your kind and positive review which are always appreciated - the walk to the local pub seems to be the most popular but surprisingly, this year, more guests have ventured the longer walk to the farm cafe for a scrumptious breakfast. Hope to welcome you again

We will definitely be back…10/10

Power optional grass caravan site

Liked: Absolutely lovely site so very quiet and relaxing. The only sounds were the occasional birds .Extremely beautiful views . Sandra the site manager and owner on hearing that my husband had hurt his back didn’t hesitate in getting her ladder and with the help of Nick who was on his holiday put up our awning for us We appreciate that she cared so much that we enjoyed our stay. She even got us some toothpaste from the shop that I’d forgotten to pack Thank you for the chocolate 😊 The Hut a honesty shop was really handy for ice creams and various items full of information about the area ie takeaways and shops and places of interest. Sandra had mapped out various routes around the estate for walking and enjoying the beautiful countryside.

Disliked: Absolutely nothing .

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Wow Rosaleen !! Thank you so much for a really lovely review - it is really appreciated No problem at all putting up your awning. We were fortunate with Nick enquiring as to why I had a stepladder going into the campsite who immediately offered to help - at over 6'- ladder not needed! So pleased you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you again and "the back" has improved after the weekend of rest.

Friendly and a very nice place to stay.

Power optional grass caravan site

Liked: Very friendly and helpful. You can have a fire pit, in fact they will hire you one with logs. Well marked walks around the estate. Altogether a lovely relaxing stay.

From the manager: Many thanks Ken for your positive review and pleased to hear you enjoyed your time at Glevering. The marking of the walks has proved invaluable this year especially the turn left at the lane for the pub ! Hope we can welcome you again in the future

Power optional grass caravan site

Liked: Very peaceful, lovely layout of site so everyone had a great view. Sandra was amazing, very helpful, gave us lots of information and lifts to the bus stop. Made what could have been a very damp and dreary few days because of the weather into a delightful memory.

Disliked: Leaving

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Many thanks Christine for your positive review - much appreciated. Yes, you did pick awful days to visit Suffolk but very happy to give you lifts to the bus stop as would have been horrible to have walked there in the weather we were experiencing. Hope we can welcome you again in summer weather we normally have !

Highly recommend and would stay again.

Power optional grass caravan site

Liked: Tranquil, safe, adult only, fully serviced pitch, close to A12 and convenient for Suffolk coast visits. Lovely friendly owner. TV. , mobile and satellite signals all good there.

Disliked: Only negative is slightly sloping grass field which I imagine could be tricky to negotiate with a heavy motorhome/ caravan after a long period of rain, although it was raining a lot during our stay and we didn’t have or see any problems. (There is no toilet block on site but that didn’t bother us as we always use our own facilities)

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Many thanks for the great photos and for the very kind and positive review- much appreciated and hope to see you again 4 of our pitches have a slight slope, but no one has ever complained or had a problem. Everyone seems to have "Levelling Ramps" or " Hydraulic Levelling System" Non electric are all flat. I was very pleased that no one needed a tow off the meadow after the horrendous non stop downpours last week end, but we do have a tractor if needs be !!

Local attractions

From the meadow, you can follow mapped paths and quiet lanes around the estate to cafés, surrounding villages and local pubs. Plenty of quiet cycling routes are available too, and bikes (including electric models) are available to hire if you fancy touring on two wheels. One of the main local draws is Snape Maltings (15 minutes' drive), an arts centre established by Benjamin Britten with a packed schedule of concerts and exhibitions. Aldeburgh (25 minutes), meanwhile, has its own festival in early summer, and is a cracking little seaside town to visit any time of year, full of indie boutiques and top restaurants. The Suffolk coastline is renowned for its beaches and sand dunes, with swims, walks and picnics all possible in the surrounding area. Popular picks include the shingle beach at Thorpeness (25 minutes), Walberswick (35 minutes) at the mouth of the river Blyth and Southwold (40 minutes) with its welcoming sandy beach.
