  • Family-run Suffolk site with sea views
  • Within walking distance of Aldeburgh and Thorpeness
  • A pebble throw from the nearest beach, via the coastal footpath
Beach View is also Beach Walk. Guests can see the sea and sands between Aldeburgh and Minsmere Dunwich from Beach View Holiday Park on the Suffolk coast – and when they’ve finished gazing on its loveliness/taking selfies, it’s a pebble throw from the park pitches to the nearest beach along a coastal footpath… More selfies? Stroll along to other Suffolk seaside towns like Aldeburgh and Thorpeness within walking distance, or go in search of scenery close: the area around Beach View is part of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with gentle walks/strenuous hikes all around. Too much faff? Pack binoculars for birdwatching or a rod for sea fishing, both also handy within roaming distance. A campsite has been established in this Suffolk spot since the 1950s and Beach View Holiday Park is now family run, with up to date facilities including a heated shower and toilet block, a family games room and a clubhouse bar open from Thursdays to Sundays in summer serving drinks and snacks. Shops, takeaways, a leisure centre and a cinema are handy at Leiston two miles away and supermarkets are five miles away at Saxmundham.

Local attractions

Scenic seaside jaunts all around: make for local towns to soak up the towns and landscape of the Suffolk Heritage Coast, most of which is among the beaches, estuaries, marshland and forest of the Suffolk Coast and Heath Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (more of which in a sec). Aldeburgh, another Victorian coastal resort that well-to-do subjects of Good Queen Bess descended upon in summer, is still an esteemed destination for Suffolk coastal explorers and gentle souls seeking to escape city life among the Victorian beach villas. If you’re an angler, sea fish here for eels, cod, bass and whiting; if you’re a fish fan, buy some of the day’s catch from the fishermen on the beach. (And if the sound of music makes you trill, look up the all-year events of the Aldeburgh Music Festival, set up in post-Victorian times by Lowestoft composer Benjamin Britten.) And… back to the AONB. The Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has three RSPB reserves to wildlife spot and birdwatch at, including one at Minsmere to watch wading birds wading around while hidden in a hide (watchers, not birds), one along the coast at Orford and one back in Aldeburgh. Additionally, stroll along the old old heathland of the Sandlings and the AONB’s three forests (Rendlesham, Tunstall and Dunwich) to see rare butterflies, reptiles and birds of many sorts. The rare habitat of Dunwich Heath near Saxmundham flames with flora colour in summer and is home to woodlarks, nightjars, adders and acres of excellent walks.
