  • Secluded farm campsite on a Suffolk wildflower meadow
  • Half an hour's drive from Southwold or Aldeburgh
  • Cooking kit and firepit at every pitch; on-site shop for local produce
If you appreciate good food, wood fires and surrounding yourself with nature, Fire and Feast may well be the place for you. With big Suffolk skies above and a backdrop of birdsong and meadow flowers rustling in the breeze, this family farm is just the place for a long lazy weekend or a fully-fledged family holiday making memories around the campfire. This secluded site is intentionally small to ensure that you have all the space you need to relax, with spacious meadow pitches cut into long grass to create further privacy. If you fancy stretching your legs, the site's network of tracks across the farm link up with local footpaths, providing country walks for little legs or keen hikers; there are also miles of country lanes well-suited to cyclists. This site is seriously big on wood fires – every pitch is equipped with a full cooking kit and firepit, with members of the team on hand to share tips and recipe ideas. Fire and Feast also has a little market garden you can explore, while the on-site shop showcases the best Suffolk food from the local area. Further foodie options are close by too, as Fire and Feast is about 15 minutes' drive from the traditional market town of Halesworth, where there's a good range of pubs and restaurants as well as a handy railway station.

What customers say

A peaceful family farm site with roomy, mown pitches for privacy. Spotless facilities, especially showers & loos. Owners are super friendly, sharing farm & local tips. Great cast iron cooking gear, fire pits & picnic tables. Lots of wildlife and walks. Some had leaky tents; fire pits were out due to a national ban.

Ready tent

Liked I would say 7.5 Great camp and nice clean showers and toilet facilities. Sad we could not have bbqs or the fire pit but no fault of the camp owners.

Disliked Tent did leak and I got wet all three nights as it rained during the night.

From the manager: Many thanks for your feedback, we are pleased you liked our site and facilities. We are sorry you could not have a fire, as our site is all about cooking on fire but the national Government ban and a very dry few weeks meant this would not have been safe. I was very sorry to hear you got wet, our safari tents are maintained to a very high standard and are double skinned over the sleeping dome which ensures there are no leaks, but if the window vents are left open rain will drive in via the mesh windows and this seems to be what happened.

Ticked all our boxes for a bit of mum son bonding time.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked - A true family run site on a genuine working farm.
- If you want to escape the usual cramped, noisy 'carparks' that are modern campsites then this is for you.
- Wildlife galore: we spotted hares, deer, muntjack, pheasant, partridge and, no end of other different birds.
- Only a few (9, I think) very generous pitches on the site, mown into a long grass/ wildflower field giving loads of space and privacy. All with picnic benches and firepit tripods.
- Chris, Judith and their family/colleagues were brilliant throughout, really friendly and chatty. Chris even showed us the turkeys he is rearing, talked to us about how he farms and all about the local area which was fascinating to both me and my 8 year old son.
- The facilities were spotless and having the barn with tables, chairs and, board games for the kids in a shady cool place to escape the heat was a welcomed touch.
- Cast iron cooking pots and pans and other utensils were available to use for free which (not having anything cast iron myself) made camp fire cooking that much better.
- Signposted walks are literally on Chris's farmland just meters from your tent and were great to explore the local country side on foot.
- We were also very fortunate in having lovely fellow campers who were excellent company.
- My son has already asked when can we go back and we only came home yesterday!

Liked Such a great site! Really friendly welcome, the showers/toilets were always clean throughout our stay. Absolutely loved having the fire pit and bench! The pitches are nicely spaced out and loved that they are mown in. Everything looked exactly like the website (but better). Would definitely recommend and definitely come back!

Local attractions

The Suffolk coast, with its cute seaside towns and pristine beaches, is about thirty minutes' drive away, with Southwold and its pier and the old fishing port of Aldeburgh both popular picks with guests. Alternatively, you might like to head to the wild remoteness of Shingle Street (50 minutes), for a traditional bucket and spade day at Lowestoft (50 minutes) or to Southwold (30 minutes) for its regular music and arts festivals. For birdwatchers, RSPB Minsmere Reserve (30 minutes) is a must, where the coastal heathlands, meandering rivers and rolling fields create an ever-changing landscape. Families, meanwhile, would do well to visit Easton Farm Park (30 minutes), where there are lots of friendly animals and farm-related activities for younger visitors. History buff? The local area has two must-see medieval castles: Framlingham (20 minutes) and Orford (35 minutes). To explore the area's more recent past, stately homes like Somerleyton (45 minutes) have spectacular gardens and parkland, or you could head to Orford Ness (40 minutes) to check out the eerie fortifications dating back to the Second World War.
