Perfect sized pitch for four adults / two the tents.

  • Peaceful site on a working farm 10 minutes' drive from Halesworth
  • A 10-minute drive to Dunwich beach; 15 minutes to Southwold
  • Spacious pitches with firepit provided and firewood for sale
Relaxed Suffolk stays on spacious pitches are what’s on offer at Brights Farm Camping, part of a traditional family-run working farm in a rural spot 10 minutes’ drive from Halesworth and the Suffolk coastline. Expect lots of quiet, nice sunsets, dark skies and miles of wildflower walks nearby. This is a working livestock grassland farm that spends most of its time producing silage and hay to feed the calves born in early spring – and fittingly you’ll likely spot a few cows around the place, along with a small flock of chickens. Those grasses are also popular with wildlife so have a look around to see what sort of butterflies and other beasties you can spot around the field (and you might also spot the three-carriage coastal train as it passes by twice an hour… give it a wave as it goes). Human guests are well catered for here too: pitches are generously sized, and each one is provided with a firepit (plus barbecue grill). Firewood can be bought on site, or you can bring your own charcoal along if you prefer. There are piped mains water points close to each pitch, and it’s a short stroll to the shared toilet and hot shower facilities. Halesworth’s the place to pick up foodie bits for your grill – particularly if you stop by on a Wednesday when the market’s running. Closer to home, there’s a village shop a mile away in Bramfield, along with a gastropub for those who don’t fancy doing the cooking. A top-notch bakery is a couple of minutes’ drive away too for breakfast goodies and picnic supplies.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Peaceful and reasonably well spaced pitches. You're on a working farm and will hear the cows. Owner is pleasant and helpful. Campground fires are permitted in their firepits (they supply) and will sell you wood. Nighttime sky was beautiful. Being Londoners we don't often get to see a proper starry sky. Nice shower with good temperature ... roomy. Pitches were pleasant and mostly level. Fellow campers were nice and seemed conscientious. Location is very good, not far from Southwold. Compost toilets were impressive for their custom design elements ... like a bespoke painted toilet lid.

Disliked I quite liked the campground and will be back, but things to be aware of: Children cannot wander around because it's a working farm with electric fences and whatnot. They're limited to the camping area. Also there's an active railroad crossing on the property with associated railroad light and gates. There is only one shower, so sometimes there's a queue for it.

Liked We loved our stay at Brights Farm.
We had a lovely large pitch, it felt very safe with the owner Shauna checking in on us and it was great to be able to buy logs for the fire. It was an incredibly peaceful stay, our kids loved crossing the railway line to our pitch and the outdoor shower was fantastic. We had a lovely meal at the pub nearby, all in all a great stay!

Liked Lovely setting for camping with a nice set up; friendly and very helpful people.
The fire pit is a great addition and, if you need them, logs are a good price there too.
Nice shower and washing up area plus the compostable toilet is clean and well kept making it better than most.
Definitely recommend this site and will look to use again if we are needing somewhere near them again.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Pitched our tent in idyllic surroundings.

We had a warm welcome and were offered lots of great advice about things to do.

Incredibly tranquil and plenty of room between the pitches to ensure some privacy and peace.
The composting toilet was clean and no bad odours. The rainfall shower was spacious and warm and felt like it had all the best bits of an alfresco shower, whilst also offering privacy.

We made great use of the wood burner on both of our nights at the site. We were offered an enormous tub of logs for £10. It was useful not needing to bring jour own wood etc.
Location-wise…We explored Southwold and its surroundings easily from the site and the bakery down the road was a massive bonus!
We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again! Thank you!

Disliked To get to the camping area, you need to cross a gated train line. We were offered a little briefing about this and it was absolutely fine, but just worth noting if you have an issue with this.
