If you’re keen on the idea of wild camping but less so on the thought of researching suitable locations for a legal stay, here’s a handy answer in the Suffolk countryside. The Reserve is a wild camping spot among 35 acres of wonderfully untouched rural land surrounded by stunning valley views and with a gorgeous four-acre lake on site. It’s all splendidly peaceful and scenic – and as a bonus, campsite guests have exclusive rights to fish for carp and tench in the lake. All in all, a pretty fabulous spot in which to disconnect for a while and get truly immersed in nature for a while – turning your attention away from screens for a while and focusing on wildlife and big open skies. Wild camping means exactly that here – the site is off grid, with no toilets, showers, water points or other facilities on site, so you’ll need to be completely self sufficient for a stay here. There’s also a strict ‘leave no trace’ policy in place, so everything you bring must be taken away with you – including all rubbish. Campfires are permitted as long as you’re careful, and all supplies can be picked up 10 minutes’ drive away in Bungay or in local farm shops. How you choose to fill your days around here is completely up to you – you may simply want to hang out on site and soak up that special experience, or perhaps head out locally for walks, bike rides or canoeing and boating on the nearby River Waveney. Alternatively, there are plenty of options around for outings, including strolls around Norwich or along the beach at Southwold.

Liked This is such a special place, beautiful and tranquil. We pretty much had the place to ourselves except for a group over the other side if the water - and of course the wildlife.
For anyone wanting a wild camping experience this definitely ticks the box, whilst being only a 12 minute walk to the pub. We had a lovely stay and will definitely return.
Tip: Bring chocks as the land slopes down to the water (we did, as read in someone else’s review)

Liked Perfect if you want escapism, wildlife (we saw many birds flying over and deers) and a lovely view. If you like walking you’re able to easily access the Angles Way. Pitches are currently on a slope so you need chocks but owner said there are plans to level these out ☺️

Liked Very much replicated 'wild camping', no amenities, just out in nature. Lots of wildlife. Lovely village nearby, great pub! Not far from Beccles, Southwold, Aldeburgh, lots around. Really enjoyed, will be back. Lovely man who owns the Reserve - made sure we were okay, had everything we needed etc.

Liked Peaceful, relaxing, beautiful scenery. Loved chilling out, reading and watching wildlife. Especially loved that we had so much space for ourselves. Even though others were there, they were not in sight. A great bolt hole to escape to!
