  • Quiet campsite by the water's edge in the Norfolk village of Martham
  • A mile from the village centre; Winterton beach 10 minutes' drive
  • Flat and roomy pitching field; fires allowed – wood available to buy
Found yourself at Ferrygate Lane Campsite? Then look forward to gorgeous boat trips throughout the Norfolk Broads and down the nearby coast. There's no getting away from the water at this small-scale site near Martham – located next to quiet the Martham Boat Dyke moorings, you could easily arrive here in your craft, spend some time sleeping on dry land and then sail away again to your next destination… Bringing a bicycle is another good bet, as Ferrygate Lane Campsite is surrounded by splendidly flat quiet country roads and cycle paths that crisscross the surrounding countryside. Having two wheels also means easier trips into the village centre (a mile), where there are takeaways and a supermarket. The pitches here are all level and spacious, with access to basic but functional facilities like toilets, showers and a washing-up area. Guests are encouraged to light up a fire or barbecue, with several braziers around if you'd like to save yourself the trouble of stacking up logs. Handily, firewood is available to buy on site too. The local area is within The Broads National Park and has very low levels of light pollution, making for great stargazing on clear summer's nights.
