Welcome to two jays farm (added by manager 28 may 2021)

  • Family-friendly farm, 20 minutes from Norwich and half hour from coast
  • Well-placed for watersports and boat trips on the Norfolk Broads
  • Dogs welcome; plenty of walking and cycling paths directly from site
Can’t decide between a bit of farm life, bright city lights and refreshing coastal explores? Ditch the dithering and pack the whole lot in to one stay at Two Jays Farm: this small, family-friendly farm is in Horstead, a 20-minute drive from Norwich and half an hour from Norfolk’s beaches. You’ll be in good company here – in the adjacent fields your neighbours will be the farm's resident horses, goats and chickens, and you're welcome to bring along a four-legged pal of your own if you've got a dog that fancies the trip. Canine companion or no, this is a fine spot for getting out for a walk. Set off on foot or cycle along woodland paths and riverbanks to take in sights like the Bure Valley Railway, Horstead Mill on the River Bure (where you can jump into the water for a wild swim if it's getting a tad warm) and pretty market towns along the way. If you fancy getting out on the water instead you can hire paddleboards and kayaks on site. Your reward at the end of a lengthy walk – perhaps a good feed at one of the nearby foodie pubs? The nearest is less than 10 minutes’ walk from the site, and there are a few more to choose from – along with some takeaways and a supermarket – in nearby Coltishall village, which is a 20-minute walk away (or a few minutes’ drive).

Poppy unpowered grass motorhome site

Liked: We really enjoyed our stay here. The site had just what we were looking for - peaceful, animals for our children to look at, clean toilets and a lovely owner. We are looking forward to returning.

Poppy unpowered grass motorhome site

Liked: Two Jays Campsite has clean facilities, plenty of space for the children to play, friendly animals and is in a convenient location for the Norfolk Broads

Disliked: Very little to dislike, only having to take our own toilet roll to the toilets. Although I would imagine these would have been topped up if it was mentioned to the owners. 🙂

Liked: Shower was warm, plenty space, clean showers

Disliked: Price was far to high for a simple field site. £ 10 TO HAVE A DOG WITH YOU IS RIDICULOUS. Too far to walk to nearest pub . Poor signage to locate site

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: We could see the whole site from our pitch which allowed the children to just be children surrounded by beautiful animals, Paddle boarding & kayaking was brilliant, owners were alright.

Disliked: There was no goats or access to any chickens as advertised. It’s a small holding & not a farm as advertised and there is no direct access into the river. Facilities were cleaned as we checked in Friday but got dirty very quickly, by Saturday PM there were no hand towels & didn’t see anyone check them throughout the rest of our stay, only 2 toilets & 2 shower rooms with toilets for at least 20 pitches. Owners were there sat outside drinking with friends dropping by like it was there garden, felt as if we were being watched. Sheep just eating a black bag of rubbish, disliked the electric fence to whilst trying to stroke a horse. The 10/15 minute walk they send you on down to the river through all the nettles etc

Poppy unpowered grass motorhome site

Liked: The site had a very good atmosphere and would be great for families. Animals are all around and seemed to be enjoyed by the families on site.

Disliked: I booked it as stated it has river access, but the “river” was hard to find and was no more than a puddle full of rubbish.

From the manager: Hi Amber really sorry you didnt get to find the beautiful river. If you stay with us again please ask for directions and believe me its worth it.

Liked: Animals, cleanliness, great shower and toilet facilities! Also ease of check in!

Disliked: I think the only issue would be the main road next to the farm. It got quite load at rush hour so may need ear plugs. Everything else was perfect!!

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Loved the trust and freedom of the campsite. Pitch up where suits you. A communal fridge and honesty Tuc shop. Really loved how close it was to Horsted mill. We had an amazing day out paddle boarding. Chip shop and convenience store very close by. Loved all the animals and surprisingly so quiet at night. Although the rooster/chickens do make a hell of a sound in the morning, but it was all part of the experience. Also very clean toilet shower areas! All felt very secure, our young ones could go off and come back at their pleasure.

Local attractions

Being right on the Norfolk Broads, Two Jays is well-placed for a range of water activities – you can go fishing, sailing, or rent kayaks and canoes for adventures on the water… or leave the navigating up to someone else and opt for a boat trip instead. For activities on dry land, visit BeWILDerwood (10-minute drive), a forest park full of trails, treehouses, bridges, zipwires and slides. There’s more action at leisure and shopping complex Wroxham Barns (10 minutes), where there’s a kids' farm and funfair alongside boutiques, craft studios and eateries. If you’re heading to the coast, combine beach days with some animal spotting; there’s a zoo in Cromer (half an hour) and a SEA LIFE Centre at Great Yarmouth (40 minutes). There’s a bunch of parks nearby if you’re looking for big open spaces for pleasant ambles, picnics, and kids’ play areas. Try Waterloo Park (15 minutes), Catton Park (15 minutes), Earlham Park (half an hour) or Eaton Park (half an hour). For a bit of culture, visit the impressive Blickling Estate (15 minutes) and Felbrigg Hall, Gardens and Estate (25 minutes). Or combine a trip to Norwich (20 minutes) with a look at the cathedral and Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery.
