  • No-frills meadow campsite near Great Yarmouth in rural Norfolk
  • A 10-minute drive to the Norfolk Broads; 15 to BeWILDerwood Norfolk
  • Livestock, pets and a food stall on site; farm shop five minutes’ walk
Surrounded by arable fields, Highfield Farm Campsite offers wild camping on flat, well-maintained grass, 10 minutes’ drive from the Norfolk Broads and 15 minutes from the beach at Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. The pitches have peaceful views across the fields, and if you’re lucky you’ll be treated to vivid sunsets too. This relaxed and family-friendly spot has alpacas in neighbouring fields and pet pigs in their summer enclosure. Nearby is the Huggle Farm, where you meet the owner’s other animals, including adorable Valais Blacknose sheep, Merrylegs the pony and Bimbo the donkey. There are also bunnies and guinea pigs, which all love their cuddles, and lots of feathered friends for you to meet too. Buy fresh eggs and homemade jams from the stall on site, and there’s a well-stocked farm shop in the village of Rollesby (five minutes’ walk) for buying bits for your barbecue. Simple facilities at the camping field include a portable toilet; there’s water a short walk away but otherwise it’s all down to you. The site is off-grid, so bring torches from home for after-dark wanderings.

Bell tent

Liked: The area was nice quite and calm .

Disliked: The price was way too much, for what you got which was just a tent with mould everywhere . The owner Judith was very annoyed with my little pup when she ran into the alpacas wanting to play, as you can imagine she is a pup, so she chased them and one jump the fence, and that was when Judith very rude and stormed off , Judith shouted at us “YOU NEED TO GET THAT! DOG UNDER CONTROLl!!” then stormed off and didn’t see her until we paid the bill which was £80. Before my Pup run into the alpacas Judith was stroking her, saying what a beautiful Pup. How gorgeous is she she is so calm! not once did she say that the alpacas would be right next door to our teepee also we wasn’t asked if our dog was a pup and to keep her on a lead if she gets excited. Judith could say she was at Pup . I chose this place because the ad said ample fields to explore, which would’ve been fantastic for my Pup. But that this was not the case. Yes, there is ample fields, but you cannot explore them, so I misleading the ad, the little shop has frozen food for your barbecue, which means you have to wait for it to defrost, which is not helpful if you are you staying one night. When Judith asked asked, did we have a nice day my reply was not really she was taken aback by that and replied, I’ve not heard that before, she took the money quickly, walked off a change, and then walked off. Nice not.!

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: The campsite offers an incredibly close-to-nature experience. The owner's suggestions for local sights were spot-on, enhancing our stay. Great value for money, and the highlight was encountering Alpaca, making it a memorable and unique adventure.

Disliked: The campsite lacked shower facilities, which was disappointing. Otherwise, it provided a good natural experience with helpful owner suggestions.

Liked: Great location, quiet, friendly owner, reasonable amount of space between the tents, can park car next to tent. Nice grass pitch. Clean. Toilet roll in toilet. Value for money.

Disliked: No sink for washing dishes. Maybe a second toilet would be a good idea in busy season.

Liked: Wonderful place for children and grown-ups. Nice size pitches, flat, levelled campsite, has clean portaloos and water short walk away. The highlight for us were the lovely owners and the farm with all the animals to look at. Its also short drive from the beach. We loved it and will be back!
