  • Pitches and main facilities all wheelchair accessible
  • Half an hour's drive from the beaches of the Norfolk coast
The kilns may be old but the facilities – them’s all set for the 21st century. In fact, The Old Brick Kilns has got things so well sorted it’s even won awards for its offerings. All your everyday needs have been considered by the thoughtful folk at this peaceful rural site: there's a launderette that takes card payments, a tourist info point stacked with handy pointers and first-rate washrooms with underfloor heating. The shop’s shelves are filled with various essentials and treats, and you can call in a day ahead to order warm bread and fresh croissants for a leisurely breakfast. If you’re here at the right time, site staff can sort your evening drinks too: the bar is open on certain nights, with ales and ciders up for grabs. Should you choose to lounge about on site for a bit (as indeed you should…) there are wildflower meadows to skip through and a fishing pond that you’re welcome to dangle your rod into for a small charge. A playground, table tennis and games room are all on hand for the entertainment of small people. This nifty Norfolk location, 15 minutes from Fakenham, has you well placed for all sorts of outings too – beaches, nature reserves and stately homes are all within a half-hour drive. Guests travelling with wheelchairs or buggies will be chuffed to note that this is a pleasingly accessible site, with plenty of ramps and firm pathways to aid manoeuvres around the place.

Liked: Lovely, rural setting, nestled in a spacious pit and surrounded by mature trees. Great for stargazing and loads to visit nearby. The facilities at the campsite were excellent, particularly the toilet and shower block - super clean and hot water.

Liked: Lovely views, spotlessly clean toilets and hot showers. Saw a heron by the lake! Quiet, lots of space between pitches. Best site we’ve been to- shop and bar/ takeaway and games room all lovely additions. The olive tree for evening meal, beach at overstrand and the cafe there has great food and views. Sandringham, north Norfolk railway, Sheringham all easily reached

Disliked: Absolutely nothing, would return in a heartbeat

Liked: Beautifully kept grounds, fab facilities, loved Barneys bar and the opportunity to pre order dinner and enjoy eating with a glass of Guinness with other campers. Spot on!!

Disliked: A little bit dark in the corner where we were parked but it was October. I am sure in the summer the shade would be very welcome.

Liked: Very nice site which is well maintained. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Facilities are kept spotlessly clean.

Disliked: Not really a dislike, but be aware that the access to the site is down a long 1/2 a mile single track lane so, keep to the timings of the site.

Liked: Staff very friendly and helpful. Beautiful clean site with fishing pond and very clean toilet/shower block. Food and a small bar on site few nights a week.

Disliked: Nothing on site to dislike however road getting to it was very narrow, luckily we didn't get caught up with anything coming the other way, especially towing a caravan. Other than that, great place to stay.

Fully-serviced concrete slab caravan site (super, adults only)

Liked: Lovely site, immaculately kept. Spacious pitches and although the site dog walk is very short, there’s a long track you can walk for miles just nearby. Peaceful and very enjoyable stay. Great location too with such beautiful countryside and places to visit. Best toilet/shower block I’ve ever seen on a site. Had read in an earlier review that the WiFi was poor, but we didn’t experience any problems at all. Ordered food from Barneys Bar for our last night. Absolutely delicious! We’d definitely stay here again.

Disliked: Although the toilet/shower block was superb, there were only two toilets and two showers in it. Whilst it wasn’t a problem during our stay as the site was very quiet, I do wonder if there would be a problem with having to queue when the site is busy as it’s a large site and I only noticed two blocks on site.

Local attractions

The good folk of Norfolk know a thing or two about gorgeous coastlines, so it’s highly recommended that you bag a bit of beach time while you’re here: the great sandy swathes at Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham are both about half an hour away by car. With coast comes wildlife, and the places to find creatures around here are the RSPB reserve at Titchwell Marsh (35 minutes’ drive) and the boat trips that leave Morston Quay (20 minutes) to see England’s biggest seal colony, which hangs out on or around Blakeney Point. It’s not all about the coast, however – inland’s got plenty of treats to offer too: give the Queen a wave at Sandringham (half an hour’s drive), wander through 100 acres of fragrant lavender fields in Heacham (35 minutes) and sniff out some history at medieval Walsingham (15 minutes) or the stately homes Blickling Estate and Houghton Hall (both 25 minutes).
