  • Fully serviced touring pitches 10 minutes’ drive from Wisbech
  • Sandringham Estate 40 minutes’ drive; RSPB Snettisham 45 minutes
  • Farm shop, pubs, ten-pin bowling and play area five minutes’ drive
Looking for a dog-friendly escape in The Fens? Fully serviced pitches? Hey presto – here’s The Paddocks, a neatly manicured campsite 10 minutes’ drive from Wisbech in Cambridgeshire. Each of the handful of hardstanding pitches has an electric hook-up and views over open fields, and you (and the dog, no doubt) will be pleased to hear that there are loads of walkies opportunities both on and off the site. Modern amenities with pristine showers and a family room are found at the corner of the (nicely level) camping field. Go quietly about your day and you may spot some of the local wildlife as you explore the site. If you’re keen to spark up the barbecue for alfresco family dining, you can pick up supplies at the farm shop in the local village of Guyhirn (five minutes’ drive). The village also has a ten-pin bowling alley, soft-play area and a kids’ park for when the kids need a run around – and if you fancy a change of scenery of an evening, a choice of pubs and restaurants can be accessed in around 10 minutes’ stroll along a public footpath from the camping field.

What customers say

A well-kept, peaceful site with roomy, serviced pitches and great rural views. Owners are praised as friendly & helpful. Facilities are exceptionally clean, modern, and feel luxurious. Perfect for a relaxing break. Some found access tricky for big vehicles and combined facilities busy. Guests had a great time and want to come back.

Fully-serviced concrete slab caravan site

Liked Lovely peaceful site, great location, great pitches with your own waste bin, water and ehu. Unninterruped views across the fields, fresh eggs when available, peacocks come and visit. all together a well thought out cl site. Toilets (2 potacabin ones but not your usual) with towels! A huge single shower which always had red hot water and again with home comforts.

Disliked The journey to site - use the jolly sailor in guyhirn as your sat nav location and then use that rd to get to the site as the other way is HORRENDOUS! Oh and leaving :-(

Fully-serviced concrete slab caravan site

Liked Owners very friendly, toilets and shower immaculate, with nice homely finishing touches, good size pitches and all grass areas well maintained, no road noise, pub within walking distance, overall a very pleasant stay, relaxing, little gem of a site! You have to see the sunsets!

Disliked Do your research on the approach roads, the sat nav took us down a road that I wouldn’t recommend to any one, there is a much more preferable route by going though the village

Fully-serviced concrete slab caravan site

Liked Spotlessly clean site set in a rural location with views of farmland. Large pitches, all fully serviced, facing East / West giving sun in our rear bedroom in the morning and front lounge in the afternoon. Large shower room with extra toilets.

Disliked Access to the site was tight for our twin axle caravan and I had to do a bit of repositioning when leaving not to scratch the caravan.
Hardstanding is not perfectly flat so had to level the caravan in both directions.
Hardstanding and road constructed from building rubble with some large pieces of brick.

Local attractions

First on your to-do list may be a snoop around Sandringham Estate (40 minutes’ drive), one of many homes belonging to King Charles III, and open for tours of opulent royal apartments and acres of manicured grounds. Houghton Hall and Gardens (50 minutes) is almost as grand as its near neighbour, with wacky sculptures scattered in lush parkland as well as lavishly ornate interiors to admire. There are more historic buildings in Georgian-era Wisbech (10 minutes); the National Trust-owned Peckover House and Garden is an elegant masterpiece of early 18th-century architecture, while the town’s castle – first built just after 1066 but much reworked – is host to concerts and other family events. When you’ve had enough of culture, make for 225-year-old Elgood’s Brewery for tastings of their artisan ales. If the kids are pushing for the seaside, try the shingle beach at RSPB Snettisham (45 minutes), where you can also spot wading birds in their thousands (time a visit for sunset when they are coming in to roost), or let the dogs have a romp on the canine-friendly sands at Heacham South Beach (50 minutes).
