  • Quiet adults-only wild camping site just off the A1M (Junction 15)
  • A five-minute drive to Hamerton Zoo Park; 45 minutes to Cambridge
  • Secret garden for coffee and cakes, plus firepit in the orchard
Lodge Farm Camping is an adults-only wild camping spot, completely off-grid and hidden away in a Cambridgeshire wildflower meadow. Come here to chill out, listen to birdsong and maybe even catch sight of a sparrow hawk or red kite wheeling in the skies above. By night, owls fly overhead and the crepuscular creatures come out to play. Hopefully you can catch a couple of gorgeous sunsets, and as there’s no light pollution, you can spend hours gazing up at the starry sky on clear nights. This is a truly wild site, kept as close to nature as possible, but the owners do have solar and gas-fired showers and loos powered by renewable energy. There’s chemical disposal on hand too, and a fresh water supply just a short walk from the pitches (pack a torch for night-time forays). Got a bit warm on your travels? Cool off with a splash under the hosepipe, which is free for guests to use. A particularly lovely little corner of the site is the coffee garden, where you can settle with a drink and some cake by day. By night, you're also welcome to sit in the secret garden, or stoke up the firepit in the orchard. Each pitch also comes with its own smaller firepit, and a bag of wood is included for use each day. Despite being deep in the countryside, the site is close to Junction 15 of the A1M and there are pubs and takeaways in Sawtrey village (both five minutes’ drive).

Main Field unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked: I’m new to camping so have wanted to find a site that was safe to build my confidence. Lodge farm has been perfect. Very quiet and peaceful area. The owners are very kind and welcoming. The best part is having a bonfire pit and the first bucket of firewood provided!

Disliked: Nothing :)

Liked: Quiet mellow site and the bonus of being adult only. Toilet, shower and washing up area were unique and functional. Pitches were a good size mostly level. Hosts were helpful, friendly and attentive to needs of guests. Great place for a beginner wild, back to basics camper.

Blueflower unpowered grass tent site (wild)

Liked: Lovely hosts - very warm welcome, friendly and spent hours in conversation with them we shared a lot in common. The site was rustic, quirky in a beautiful countryside location. The wildlife was abundant - woodpeckers, red kites, kestrels, yellowhammers, partridge, hare and deer. If you're lucky you may see a fox and/or a badger! I stayed here 3 nights wild camping. I didn't need to leave the site (nor did I really want to!) I loved living simple, rustic (wild!) and learning how to be more resourceful. My phone battery so I used the sun as my time clock. The sunrises and sunsets were just epic. The walks on the nearby lanes and bridleways were like stepping back in time - massive, golden (in summer) open fields and huge skies. I loved being physically active by walking and foraging for firewood and making campfires. I loved cooking simple, healthy food in front of the fire. The showers were rustic - an old horsebox converted into comfortable showers. I chose to have a cold shower but there's the option to have warm showers! The toilets are compost loos with clear instructions and kept clean. I loved the quirky decor of old tourer caravans with Pink Floyd theme and Star Trek theme - very unique indeed. There is definitely something very special about this place and I would return in a heartbeat. ❤️

Disliked: Absolutely nothing.

Hammock unpowered forest floor tent site

Liked: The spot (meadow) was beautiful, wild, and secluded. It genuinely felt like we were alone and immersed in nature. The pitch area is large and nestled within the woodland and there’s ample room to relax. The owners are fantastic and couldn’t have done or offered more. We got their morning breakfast rolls which was super tasty and well appreciated when you can’t be bothered to cook! The showers are great and overall this was a perfect location for us which ticked all the boxes for a quiet and peaceful camping break. They provide wood and coal for the fire pit but I recommend you bring more (although they happily topped us up when we needed it we felt bad to keep asking). The owners are honestly gems and made this trip really easy for us.

Disliked: Nothing. The place is fantastic
