Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Amazing value which is hard to find nowadays. Toilet was immaculate, fire pits available for free and beautiful countryside views. Wagtails visited our area several times a day and watching the buzzards soaring through the sky was lovely. Meadow surroundings with lots of wildlife.

Disliked: Easy to miss the turning and traffic was busy throughout the night (obviously can't be helped though)

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked: The cut pitches were great & we located a fabulous spot! The toilet was clean with toilet roll and cleaning facilities supplied. We loved the free fire pit & that firelighters were also provided. The walk to & along the Canal was fantastic with no traffic so our dog could walk safely. The Saracens Head pub garden was fantastic & dog friendly with fabulous cider & Alpacas across the way! We had a great stay thankyou!

Disliked: No dislike's just a few suggestions. Male & female toilet would be nice. A sign or "what 3 words" to locate you as we followed the info on the texted however as we pulled on to what looked like the site it was a drive way not far before you & the man said we were the 3rd that day! We couldn't tell which were campervan pitches & which were tent pitches just hope we stayed on the right one. Maybe suggestions could be made to how many to fit on each pitch as some had spread out so later arrivals could not fit on & one camper went & parked in the long grass.

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked: The site was basic but very well maintained. The location next to the canal gave us two full days for exploring with good pubs on route! We did not see the owner but the communication and information shared by text was great and just right for us.

Disliked: Nothing to fault

Liked: Nothing to dislike Able to pitch anywhere, small tidy site Super friendly hosts All we needed for a nights pitch A field quite wet but expected we’re in Weston Horse, ducks pheasant and puddles 😊 No water hole we knew that before. We collected on way and the shops are not far including chip shops within 8min drive We didn’t use Wi-Fi so no comment No activities but it camp not activity camp we didn’t expect this neither , plenty to do in the area if you wanted. Busy road day and night but not enough to damping our fun Fire pits all around Toilet area for my favouring was me a little to close to main road 😕but clean plenty amenities provided and clean smell free 👍🏾

Local attractions

Shuffle off to the National Trust-run Shugborough Estate (10 minutes' drive), a colonnaded stately home on the edge of Cannock Chase. The gardens here have fab 18th-century features to stroll in, while the kids will find plenty of curiosities if they check out the well-preserved servants' quarters. More local history is up for perusing at nearby Stafford Castle (20 minutes). Got a head for heights? There are three high-altitude options hereabouts, the first two of which are rather countrified affairs – sailing through the sky on a hot air balloon tour (15 minutes) or climbing up to the top of the forest canopy at Go Ape Cannock (20 minutes). You might want to keep the third option on the list, Alton Towers (30 minutes), up your sleeve as a way of encouraging the young ones to stay as good as gold… Haven't got a horse but still like the look of life in the saddle? Find yourself a mount at Cannock Chase Trekking Centre (15 minutes).
