  • Peaceful 20-acre marina location in the Staffordshire countryside
  • A 10-minute drive to Lichfield; 20 minutes to Drayton Manor Theme Park
  • Barbecues and picnic tables provided; short walk to a dog-friendly pub
Whether it’s picnics looking out over the marina or lazy mornings walking along the Coventry Canal, there’s plenty of scope for peaceful activities at Kings Orchard Marina in the middle of the Staffordshire countryside. This is a pretty marina location with 20 acres of space, all landscaped and maintained to a high standard, with a marina basin for views and a canal, narrowboat hire and local pub 10 minutes’ walk away. For any keen explorers, the icing on the cake might be that historic Lichfield is 10 minutes’ drive to the west. That means you can explore the medieval city’s 12th-century cathedral, market square and the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum by day before heading back in the evening to use the site’s food prep area to build a barbecue spread on the grills provided. Handily, there's a food shop under five minutes' drive away. The free-to-use barbecues and picnic tables dotted around the site are useful facilities for those quality times. As for features of convenience, Kings Orchard Marina also has toilets, showers, waste disposal and an Elsan unit. With the Staffordshire countryside on all sides, walk to your heart’s content, but don’t forget that real ales, traditional pub fare and a beer garden await at the local dog-friendly country pub alongside the Coventry Canal. This place, 10 minutes’ walk away, is a good spot for those of you who have brought dogs on your holiday.

Liked: The dog walking field was large and great for them to be let of their leads.

Disliked: Overgrown pitches with little or no view. Wash rooms were very tired and not at all inviting. Busy with commercial vehicles exiting pitches early each morning. Very unhelpful staff. Photos and description of the site are misleading.

Fully-serviced gravel caravan site

Liked: Good location next to the marina, easy to get to Lichfield. We enjoyed the walk down the canal to the pub for dinner.

Disliked: Pitches were fine. We had no. 1 which wasn't the best view of the bins which was a shame. Loos and showers were a bit worn. The site is near a busy road and train line so was a little noisy.

Fully-serviced gravel caravan site

Liked: Lovely well kept campsite Good wide pitches with some privacy screening of hedges Lovely looking marina and canal walk near by. Little shop, well kept toilets We enjoyed our little stay for one night in our camper with our 2 dogs.

Disliked: Wifi didn’t work for us as we were too far from the main hub I assume- but it wasn’t a problem really as we did have signal to still stream a film

Liked: Peaceful , pleasant location. Very helpful staff.

Disliked: These comments are not about disliking anything but a shop, cafe and a make over for the toilets would be great. Dumping waste water on our pitch seemed odd!

Liked: The pitch was immaculate with power and its own water supply. Washrooms were clean and a good size. Staff were very friendly and catered to our needs immediately. The Plough pub half a mile away was great. Really good food and great prices. We will be returning next year. 5*.
