Stunning views

  • Simple, well-kept Staffordshire campsite on a quiet smallholding
  • Five minutes' drive from Leek; just off the A53
  • On the southern edge of the Peak District, with views of The Roaches
Set in scenic Staffordshire on the southern edge of the Peak District National Park, Beech Villa Camping is a secluded smallholding that's home to horses, a few sheep and a handful of camping pitches. The Roaches, a prominent ridge of hills that can be seen in the distance, provide a stunning backdrop and can be easily accessed on foot. There are also local walking trails to the nearby Tittesworth Water (where a range of watersports are available), Lud's Church chasm and lots of other nature spots. (And if nature's not the thing for your kids, how about a day out at Alton Towers, 25 minutes' drive away?) This site has simple facilities, including a washing-up area for pots and pans and toilets. Although conveniently close to the A53, the site is set back from the road so it still feels peaceful. Barbecues are allowed as long as they're kept off the ground to protect the grass, and small firepits are permitted as long as they are raised off the ground and properly monitored. Two dogs per pitch are welcome (but please keep them on leads at all times). The local area is home to a number of excellent pubs, including the waterside Lazy Trout in Meerbrook (a mile and a half away, close to the reservoir) and Ye Olde Rock Inn (a mile away up the A53), which has been faithfully serving locals and visitors since 1816. If you don't fancy travelling that far, it's handy to know there's also a much closer pub about two minutes' walk from the site, serving up drinks and dinners.

Unpowered grass campervan site

Liked I have visited this site twice and love the views of the Roaches. The hosts are super friendly and helpful. Very quiet site, so perfect if you’re looking for that.

Disliked Not the fault of the owners but the site is on a tiny slope in certain spots, not a problem but worth noting.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Upon Arrival clearly signposted outside we found the site near the main road but set back so unaffected by traffic.
We were met by the owners, who were very welcoming, helpful and friendly.
The site itself is secure and well maintained, with limited pitches it was really lovely. As the pitches are really big with loads of space it is perfect for couples or families. The first thing you’ll notice is the amazing views of the hills ( the roaches) which was stunning. We knew straight away we had picked the right spot. We stayed all weekend and the facilities are great . Two toilets with sinks soap and loo paper provided all very clean and maintained.
An excellent washing up area for your cookware or dishes again everything provided. It was great as only a short stroll from the camping area.
Two things clearly stand out .
1 The owners are remarkable people so helpful on places to go walking or local pubs , one literally a stroll away ( with a great Sunday carvery) others around the area.
2 The animals , the horses were beautiful and you can stroke them , also watching the farmer with his sheepdog and the sheep.

From the manager: Thank you so much Alison for your lovely review we really appreciate it.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Really friendly owners that created us at the gate and explained where all the facilities were, local trails, and where the local pubs/ shops were.
Not a big field but great view of roaches, and nice to watch horse and sheep going about.
Good spacious area to wash up dishes.

Disliked Camping area not too big. Fine if not many people but can imagine if it’s busy, there wouldn’t be much privacy.
Toilets are portaloos which plumbed in water supply. They’re clean but not much space to do your business.

From the manager: Hi many thanks for your review I can state each pitch is a minimum of 24 feet in width with a void of 12 feet between each pitch! We have been told the biggest pitches in the area by many. We only have x12 pitches max which are situated around the perimeter so no one is overlooking and nothing in the centre at all. The field is just over an acre in size. And a max of x5 people per pitch. The toilets are definitely individual mains toilets with sinks inside obviously depends what else you are wanting to do in them as they seem very substantial. Many thanks again and hope to see you again.
