Liked: *Amazing Welcome by host Kate. *The House and location was dreamy. Beautiful setting. Love the family home and outbuildings. Things dreams made of. *Being away from other vans parked up and sort of private. *Good EHU and WiFi was needed as patchy 4g O2. *Stripes & Pea. *Kate’s mum was so pleasant to talk to. *Water next to the van. *Toilet near and clean 24/7 *Shower. Very different but a talking point. It’s a shower!! *Asked if wanted fire pit. *Able to walk the house gardens and grounds to enjoy nature. *View. Did I mention the view. *Good to see recycling, bins and dog poo and ash bin provided. No where for grey or black waste sadly.

Disliked: View was nice. We had our chairs to sit out. But couldn’t get away from the fact it felt that the pitch was just a driveway. A used through road. Shame as other pitches had more to ‘set scene’ adding to the magic of the place. Just our thought. I’d recommend River View. Finally beware walking or cycling on the roads around here. They don’t slow down !!!

From the manager: Great to have you both here Sean. I think you got unlucky with some of the traffic as normally it's a quiet road - yes you're always going to get some idiots driving faster than they should and that's rubbish for anyone walking on the roads also it's spud season and the tractors are busy at work and unfortunately don't seem to be slowing down much 😕 We've plenty of places to empty grey water too which isn't a problem. Cheers again and lovely to meet you both 😊

Liked: What a brilliant place! From before we arrived, Kate was so welcoming & really helpful. She offered to upgrade our pitch so that our nervous collie could relax & we had the river view where we enjoyed eating our breakfast outside whilst watching the herons. The night we arrived she recommended the best local pub (The Hare & Hounds, really friendly) & tipped us off that a new pop-up pizza van would be there (Pizza Da Strada) & it was amazing. My husband is convinced it’s the best pizza he’s ever had & we have been to various places in Italy 😁 The campsite is a chilled out rural haven & we loved the quirkiness of a strutting peacock & the stable shower where Stripey the cat might pop in to keep you company. It’s so good to have a piping hot shower that stays on for as long as you need it & loads of space to put your dry clothes. It’s quiet & beautiful with lots of interesting places to visit nearby (we ran up the Wrekin & went to Ironbridge). I’d definitely stay again. Big thanks to Kate for making us feel so welcome.

River View powered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked: Lovely tidy site on the grounds of a beautiful and well kept home and stables. Very few pitches so would never be busy. Peaceful, quiet, and a lovely view of the river and countryside. Along with the firepit it all made a lovely relaxing evening. Kate messaged me the day before our arrival and was waiting to welcome us when we arrived, our dog Tilly was welcomed too and had plenty of space to walk and play if she wanted. Shower facilities are a bit "different" but that's definitely not a complaint, only one toilet but again not a problem for the amount of people there. Only regret is we didn't stay longer but we will definitely be back again!

Liked: Quirky campsite, which is a real gem. Kate the host is lovely, ensured we knew where everything was… not just on site but in the local area. Sending WhatsApp links and pub/restaurant suggestions, locations to park are things to do. Pea was a pleasant surprise (I’d love one as a pet if I had a big garden! And the shower…. How quirky. Local attractions

The Wrekin can be seen from all around here and can be reached by car in about 10 minutes. There are paths up both sides of the hill, with one that's gentler on the knees and another rougher route for those that appreciate a good challenge. There are plenty more climbs, rambles and cycle rides on offer if you head 20 minutes or so to the south to the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – Church Stretton (30 minutes) is always a good place to start. To the east is Telford (15 minutes) and Ironbridge (20 minutes), a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a proud industrial past. As well as the Iron Bridge itself, this scenic stretch of the Severn is home to sights as varied as Buildwas Abbey (20 minutes), museums dedicated to tiles and china (20 minutes) and Benthall Hall (25 minutes), a National Trust property. In the other direction, you have Shrewsbury town centre (15 minutes), where boat trips, history walks and independent shops are on offer. Alternatively, on the outskirts of town there are historic sites like Wroxeter Roman City (10 minutes), Attingham Park (10 minutes), a stately home with gorgeous grounds, and Haughmond Abbey (15 minutes).
