Fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site

Liked: A very clean site, well maintained, loved the screened pitches it gave a sense of privacy, we took our dog with us an was very impressed, on arrival we were given a roll of flush-able dodgy poo bags, that you had to flush down the outside dog waist toilet, No smelly doggy bins. the dog walk was very nice as well with a large fenced area the dogs can stretch and run around in. There was also a nice onsite club house with a covered outside area if you wanted to meet up with other campers for a drink and a chat, the staff were very friendly and welcoming and greeted you as returning old friends.

Disliked: There was only 2 things We found as a problem, was the shop did not hold much stock, just a few items and the disappointment that the bar did not serve food.

Fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site

Liked: Onsite bar Spotless facilities Close driving distance to Shrewsbury and walks Very quiet and peaceful Areas for dogs to be off the lead No fobs or codes needed

Disliked: Showers small and push button every few seconds - frustrating Lots of rules and passive aggressive signs everywhere Had to pay for friends to come in and say hello for half an hour even though they were spending money in the onsite bar anyway WiFi was very intermittent Two certain staff members sometimes came across a bit rude or condescending, we are paying guests not school children (the others were lovely!!!)

Fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site

Liked: Absolutely beautiful place, everyone was very friendly and we had some right good laughs with other campers, the staff and the local farmers. The site is very well maintained and very clean. Nice drinks in the pub and nice food. Will definitely be going back.

Disliked: Not so much as a dislike but more of a thought. It would be amazing to have a part of the site that was for people like us who like to have a few drinks and a laugh and would liked to have carried on later in the night but couldn't past 11pm. By no means was this an issue more of it would of been a nice to be able to.

Liked: Beautiful landscaped site, each pitch had 3 sides of hedging around van. Showers and toilets very clean and always plenty of hot water. Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice idea having a bar on site, got to speak to other campers.

Disliked: Limited opening hours of bar. Food only available on friday and saturday.

Fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site

Liked: Everything. Such a pretty well kept site. There was everything you could want from the spacious pitch which was immaculately kept to the onsite bar and shop . There were shower block facilities for men and woman.Disabled facilities, laundry and a chemical waste disposal area. All clean and working. We even got given doggy biodegradable poo bags . The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We dined in the quaint bar and the food was lovely with generous portions. Gardens were well manicured with a pretty central fountain. There was a dog run and a little walk area with a pond which had ducks. I couldn’t speak highly enough of this site and we will definitely return . It’s certainly the best site we have ever visited.

Disliked: Nothing, wish all sites were like this one . Thank you to the hard working staff.

Local attractions

Shropshire's splendid capital of Shrewsbury is around five miles from Cartref Camping and Caravan Site. The piles of old buildings to see will keep anyone occupied for quite some time, but ask around when you're there to see if any of the famed festivals are running during your stay: the Shrewsbury Flower Show, Folk Festival and the Shrewsbury International Cartoon Festival and more have their HQs here. Roam a little further to Wroxeter Roman City, five miles south-east of Shrewsbury: once one of the biggest cities in Roman Britain, it's managed these days by English Heritage, which runs regular events, an audio tour and a museum around its bathhouse remains, townhouse re-creation and the biggest free-standing Roman wall in the country in the Old Work. Guided tours, afternoon teas and wines are available at Wroxeter Roman Vineyard. The Industrial Revolution site of Ironbridge half an hour's drive away is another top Shropshire attraction, or you could sample some fine dining or afternoon teas in the foodie town of Ludlow. Ellesmere, with its glacial meres created during the last Ice Age, also has a bowling green at the ruins of its 11th-century motte-and-bailey castle.
