  • Bewdley 15 minutes’ drive and West Midlands Safari Park 25 minutes
  • Upscale accommodation with modern kitchens and private hot tubs
Looking for somewhere peaceful and thoroughly comfortable for a well-earned rest? Your search may well be over at Billingsley Park Lodges, set on a private seven-acre site 10 minutes’ drive from the historic market town of Bridgnorth in southern Shropshire countryside. Backed by a coppice of trees, the family-size cedar-clad lodges sleep up to four guests in stylish bedrooms with bags of wardrobe space, bedside drawers and TVs (for those lazy mornings breakfasting in bed). Smart contemporary kitchens come with all mod cons, and each unit has an open-plan living space with luxurious furnishings and decorative feature walls. Outside, every lodge has an exclusive-use hot tub – perfect for soaking in after a day’s sightseeing or stargazing in the clear night sky – woodland or field views from wrap-around sun decks and private parking. Should you ever wish to leave your cosy holiday abode, venture out on walks in the Severn Valley, go kayaking along the river, admire the gorgeous, gaily painted waterside houses in Bewdley (15 minutes) or dine out at several pubs within 20 minutes’ drive.

Local attractions

You have lots of options for spending time out in the fresh country air, from fishing (15 minutes’ drive) to golfing or horse riding (both five minutes). Myriad cycling and walking routes wend their way through southern Shropshire, including marked trails through Severn Valley Country Park (35 minutes) and paths up to the bizarre rock arches at Nanny’s Rock (half an hour). Rent boats from River Severn Canoes (also half an hour) for fun on the river, or if you’re with young kids, start them off with kayaking along the calm waters of Kinver Canal (half an hour). For something a bit more speedy, be prepared to get good and muddy as you whizz across open fields and down forest tracks on quad bikes from Severn Valley Quad Trekking (35 minutes). For a family day out that doesn’t involve getting wet or muddy, take the kids to West Midlands Safari Park (25 minutes) to spot giraffes and rhinos in spacious enclosures. When an even-more sedate trip is required, chug through the Shropshire countryside aboard the Severn Valley Steam Railway from Bridgnorth (10 minutes).
