  • Luxurious rural campsite close to the Peak District National Park
  • A 10-minute drive to Hardwick Hall; Chatsworth House 35 minutes
  • Miles of walking and cycling trails from site; pubs five minutes’ walk
Can’t decide between Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire? Your worries are over with a stay at Silverhill Woodland Retreats – this well-established and superbly maintained campsite near Teversal borders both counties – and in fact you can spy three more from the top of Silverhill nearby. Surrounded by countryside, it has a peaceful location and yet is still easily accessible from main road routes. Customer service and superior facilities are the name of the game here – for it has a very glitzy loo block crafted from black marble, with thoughtful luxuries in it like hair dryers and complimentary toiletries. No need to worry about leaving anything at home either, as there is a shop on the site selling camping essentials, coffee and stuff you basically forgot to pack. There are ice creams on hand too, if the kids are behaving. You’ll find a play area on site for your younger offspring, as well as miles of walking and cycling trails directly from the campsite (pick up maps in reception). You can bring any four-legged friends to share in your hikes, or restrict your exercise to a leisurely stroll down to the local pub (five minutes’ walk) for decent grub and a pint.

Liked The Pitch was of a nice spaced area, with plenty of room away from neighbour. Large size camp site overall, was welcomed by Robert at reception who explained all we needed to know. liked the entry of a fob barrier gate for entry and exit, gave a good sense of security , the shower rooms are unique and of the best ive seen. with a decent flow of hot water, separate bowl for shaving too.
although we was only here 1 night we had a good night sleep as the site was VERY QUITE.
had a nice walk along a path which took us to the statue of a miner.

Disliked for my 1 night stay there was nothing to dislike

Liked Very pleased with the whole experience as a first time Caravaner we found the booking in and Pitching up really easy process. The site is spotless and peaceful.
Had a relaxing experience

Disliked We didn't dislike anything about it, as it’s the first time we’ve ever pitched up with a caravan we went not knowing what to expect. Very pleased.

Liked The staff were extremely friendly and the pitch’s were a good distance from each other. Facilities were always open. Shop was stocked with basic essentials.

Disliked I had requested close to the amities as I’m unable to walk far but we was put also the furthest away from them so I frequently needed to use my wheelchair which was not easy on the stoned paths. The accessible bathroom was not very well thought out. Shower hose was not high enough (and was in need of a new one), when I was able to stand and the wall hooks were not low enough when I fully required the use of my wheelchair. A separate perching stool is needed and the shower chair, hand dryer etc needed a good scrub, the rusted areas require re-painting. I became stuck in the bathroom a few times as the door was too heavy for me to push open when I was having a bad health day. Thankfully a few people (not all) helped some of the time as I didn’t want to pull the red emergency cord as it wasn’t an emergency. I really disliked being placed next to the children’s play area as the parents didn’t keep an eye on there children as we had many times the children would just come inside to us and try to exactly what they wanted to. Not the quiet stay we had anticipated but it was nice seeing all the dozens of children getting on with each other. There was no point in requesting to move as the families were only there for part of our stay, arriving a few days after us. WiFi was payable at site on line and was not advised as such.

Liked Sehr ruhiger und sauberer Platz, großzügige Rasen- und Schotterplätze mit viel Baumbestand. Wir waren nur eine Nacht zur Durchreise nach Schottland dort.

Liked Absolutely loved it, we thought we would try this site as it's local and didn't want to travel to far . We were very shocked on how lovely it was and a lovely hidden local treasure to us . Very clean , quite site never even heard any dogs bark and it had plenty, lovely pitches and clean showers etc great walks just of site , lovely bit of history of mining pieces on your travels on the walks ,. Can't recommend enough even if your just going local or coming from further away as it's got great places to visit also nearby.
