Mini land rovers
Adventure play park

  • Water- and land-based event centre in 270 acres of parkland
  • Easy access to Nottingham city centre, rail network and airport
  • Country walks, nature trails and lots to do for kids
What do you reckon is the main flavour of activities at this Nottinghamshire site? Yup, top of the menu at the Holme Pierrepont Country Park, near Nottingham are all sorts of watersports: you'll be able to tackle a whitewater course for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing; paddleboarding, open-top canoeing and the inflatable assault course Wipe Out. But! This is a land-based activity centre too, so if you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths or would quite like to stay dry for a day, other options can be tackled at the outdoor adventure zone where there's an aerial adventure course, miniature golf, a mini four-wheel drive course for kids, a kids' activity club and archery combat. A large play park, country walks and nature zones are also on site (please note some activities are subject to availability and must be booked at reception; early booking is advisable). Feeling a bit faint just from reading all this and think you'd rather spectate? The centre has kindly included a country park café and a regatta lake where it hosts its own events like rowing and canoe regattas, dragonboat racing and triathlons. Lots is on offer too to keep the kids amused, including a woodland adventure playground and a nature trail a short stroll away. Although all this energetic excellence is only 10 minutes' drive from Nottingham city centre, it's well into the countryside and away from anything townie, as it's deep in the 270 acres of parkland of Holme Pierrepont Country Park. The campsite part of the park covers 18 acres and has a facilities block with showers and toilets, and a site shop selling selected groceries and camping supplies.

Liked: The ease of check in via email and all information provided.

Disliked: I was staying for the kayaking events. There is water quality issues in both lake and white water course. The showers weren’t really hot enough. Please can they be turned up especially for weekends where there are a lot of paddlers who need to get dirty water off their skin let alone warm up.

Liked: Well kept grounds. Level gravel pitch. Short walk to a lovely country park/water activity centre.

Disliked: Very disappointed with the showers - considering this is the National Watersports Centre I would have expected them to have accessible showers but unfortunately this is not the case. Each cubicle has a very large step in/out of the shower with no handrail to help which, for me, made them unusable. I did email the site for comment but at the time of writing have not received a reply. The facilities are very dated and not very clean, while we there a sink was leaking on to the floor for 3 days leaving a dirty puddle of water. This says to me that the facilities were not cleaned/checked during this time. Again I did email but no reply. Finally, and I know this wont bother everyone but absolutely no mobile phone signal at all anywhere on the site and therefore no wifi

From the manager: Thankyou for your review, sorry that you haven't had a response from your email. There are 3 fully accessible wc and shower rooms on the campsite along with a further 3 1 level accessible ones. These can be found in the brick block and the new block that is in Rafters field. We do have a plan that we are working towards with facility blocks which has seen an extra 3 blocks added over the last 5 years and as the site grows this will grow with it. We are glad that you enjoyed our country park and all of our activities.
