Liked: The site was spacious and well kept. The toilets were clean. Only one shower but it didn’t seem to cause any problems. Ralph the warden was a lovely chap, very polite and helpful. The pub at the front of the site was convenient for food, there was also an Indian restaurant just down the road. free fishing on site and dogs were welcome. river Trent 5 minutes away with days ticket fishing available. Some lovely places to visit in the surrounding area.

Disliked: The pictures show a fishing lake and there was a fishing pond. The pictures were very deceiving making the pond look much bigger than it was ,if your into fishing don’t expect too much , but it was pleasant . No shops nearby, nearest supermarket in Lincoln, 15 minutes drive.

Liked: What a great site with hook up. Stayed in the disabled bay with my partner and dog. Clean toilets/showers and washing up facilities. Even has a washing machine!! Pub food was excellent (dog friendly too) and Ralph, the on-site warden, very accommodating and friendly. We’ll definitely be back.

Disliked: Only thing was the light in the disabled toilets felt you were at a disco, flicking on and off constantly, plus did mention this to Ralph. Other than that no complaints from us.

Liked: Funnily enough, the previous 2 reviews were from our campsite neighbours, so good to see they enjoyed their time here. We only live about 15 miles away and have driven past this site many time. It's ideal though for us wanting to be away from home and just relax. The site is clean, the pitches generous, the White Swan serves lovely food and the nearby Indian restaurant does fantastic (takeaway) food. From the site you can walk towards the Dunham bridge and walk along the river for miles and miles (happy dog, happy dog guardians!). Great, relaxed and well-looked after little site.

Disliked: The road is busy, but far away to hear it but not in a nuisance way. Toilets are fine, but there could be more showers. The note says to use the disabled shower if the shower in the ladies' compartment was in use, which I did. Went from hot to cold, but we've had worse.

Liked: Nice well laid out site, warden was very helpful only 4 stars as could do with a bigger toilet/shower block but otherwise a very good sit. Quiet at night time, pub on the doorstep, only had a drink so can’t comment on the food. One big bonus is you don’t have to be off the site early not like some where they want you off by 10am. Would i recommend? Yes, ideal for an overnight stop if you were touring the east side of the country. Some interesting towns within 30 mins drive.

Disliked: Not a dislike as such but as I mentioned in the comments, could do with more toilets/showers.

Local attractions

Explore 3,000+ acres of parkland at National Trust - Clumber Park (25 minutes' drive), a former ducal estate that now welcomes visitors – whether on foot or bike. Check out the Gothic chapel, pause for a picnic by the lake or in the Pleasure Grounds, or sniff out the Rose Garden, with its dozens of varieties. When in Nottinghamshire, of course you have to pay a visit to Sherwood Forest (half an hour), said to have been home to Robin Hood and his merry men. There are historical reenactments celebrating this folklore hero, or you can simply explore wooded trails, looking out for birds like woodpeckers and pipits.
