  • Small family-run site among five acres of green Lincs countryside
  • A mile from Sutton on Sea and within walking distance of Huttoft beach
  • Next to a riding centre and 20 minutes' drive from Skegness
Well now, this is a popular little place. 'Fab', 'beautiful' and 'brilliant' are but of a few of the plaudits that have been heaped on small, family-run and friendly South Farm Caravan Park, set deep in the Lincolnshire countryside a mile from colourful Sutton on Sea. Families, couples and solo travellers are all welcome here, and dogs would likely give the farm an approving woof too: many walks are nearby along the countryside lanes and fields, and the walks – and bike rides – of the Lincolnshire Wolds are very close by. The closest beach, Huttoft or Moggs Eye, has miles of dog-friendly sands for the pooch to let loose. If you think the kids would like to canter, riding lessons and a pony club are at the equestrian centre next door to the farm; if they tend more towards a seaside vibe, Skegness is about 20 minutes away. (And if after that you tend towards a gentler vibe, the long wide open sands of peaceful Huttoft beach are within walking distance of the farm.) Facilities at the farm include spotless shower and toilet blocks (these are based away from the pitches and require a walk) and a washing-up area. There's a small tea room open every day during the school holidays only and a games room.

What customers say

A top spot for a chill break! Friendly family vibes, great value, and handy for beaches. Cafe and play areas a hit with families. Some bits are a bit old-school, but it's clean and ideal for dog walking.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Small park on site for up to 13 year old, as well as bouncy castles & a games room.
Clean toilets & showers (50p per use - i didnt have any change so staff let me bank transfer to get some).
Washing up room and washing machine (didn't use but takes money too).
Very quiet & peaceful area, and everyone was respectful of the quiet periods (10pm til 7am). Could hear traffic going past on the main road occasionally but wasn't intrusive or overbearing.
Nearby fields had horses but I also saw a fair few rabbits in the early morning too.
Staff were very friendly, approachable and laid back.
Welcome pack was very detailed & included things to do locally.
We brought our own food but the menu of the tea room wasn't too limited, including a few vegetarian options.

(I can't rate the WiFi as im not sure if there was one, we didnt attempt to connect or use it but i thought that was a plus and enjoyed the screen free time).

Disliked The walk to the toilets. Its honestly not that far & by day 2 I was getting into a routine with the walk. But first thing in the morning felt like a mad dash in the cold air.
Unlit paths in places.

Liked Hardstanding area was peaceful and the best area on the site in my opinion. Nice walk from the site across fields to the beach for a dog walk. We know the area well and had booked as no availability anywhere due to our late booking. It met our needs for a few days. Very friendly staff who couldn't be more helpful. Didn't spend much time on site, it was really a base to get to around due to family being local and its a good base with transport. Site costs are reasonable.

Disliked Glad we had full facilities in our caravan. Could do with a washing up, toilet area for those that haven't nearer the top end of the site as it's a walk if you've got a bit to carry. Also areas of the site are very tired, some dirty and chemical waste is an issue - was closed off temporarily with instructions to use the toilets. I would have been upset had we paid more, but can also see that with a little more TLC it would be a great site if you have kids as there is stuff for them to do like a park, bouncy castles and a games area, along with a tea room.

Liked Easy walking distance to the beach

Disliked Very scruffy site, dirty showers and toilets and only 2 for the whole site. Washing up station was opposite the showers and too far to carry a family of fours washing up. Filthy bouncy castles in the garden of the cafe that absolutely stunk when the kids got off and so many dogs! Barking and growling from the time you go to sleep to waking you up early. Also the ground we were put on was stony and uneven making putting the table up to play games a near on impossibility and the kids had to wear shoes all the time. Also too far to walk to anything and only the main road with no pavement to get anywhere as we were in a camper van with young children. Also the chemical waste point was an old toilet, no lid and was so full so we had to use the toilets to dispose. Disgusting!

1 bedroom apartment

Liked Our stay at this holiday apartment was excellent. The accommodation was clean, bright, and very comfortable, providing everything needed for a relaxing visit. The property itself offers extensive grounds with plenty of facilities, including bouncy castles, a children’s play park, and a welcoming tea room. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive throughout our stay. We would be delighted to return in the future and highly recommend this property to others.

Liked Our stay at South Farm was amazing. There wasn't noise bothering us, it's pretty close from Sutton on Sea(4 minutes drive), with big shops such as Tesco/Lidl at around 15-20 minutes drive. Toilets were as clean as they could be, would benefit from some improvements, but they are more than enough to do your 'jobs' there. Showers are rated at £0.5 per 5 minutes, which it's an amazing rate. There is a games room as well, with billiard which takes 1£ per round, free darts as well. Washing room, with a washing machine which is 3-4£ per round, but there is plenty of hot water to wash all your camping utensils. Food at the tea room is at a pretty decent price, and also tastes good. Camping spaces are big enough for a 5 berth caravan, even for twin axles, and something which isn't mentioned in the ad, because the owners cannot modify it, YOU DON'T NEED TO PAY EXTRA FOR ELECTRICITY. That's included in the price you pay for your stay. We had an amazing time, and we will definetely come back.

Disliked There isn't good signal, nor any wifi available. HOWEVER, that's not the host's fault, so I am not going to take any stars away from my rating.

Camping pod (adults only)

Liked Great welcome and wonderful staff from moment we arrived to when we left. Glamping Pod was clean and well equipped with wonderfully comfortable beds. Super clean toilets and showers and a great little tea room for breakfast to evening tea. Lovely 10 minute walk to the beach which was clean with beautiful sand and hardly a soul there. Perfect little weekend getaway. We will definitely be back soon.

Disliked Absolutely nothing other than having to go home!

Local attractions

This is a smashing spot for family and beach hols, with both Sutton on Sea and Huttoft beaches close by for colourful beach huts at the first and a peaceful relaxing vibe at the second. Skegness is an easy drive along the coast, and Mablethorpe and Ingoldmells are also easily accessible to the north and south. Among the many other activities near the farm are the ambles and pedals of the Lincolnshire Wolds or taking day trips to Lincolnshire's small market towns like Alford, where there's also a war museum and a theatre. Bargain hunters should also get along to one of Lincolnshire's many car boot sales, at Ingoldmells, Skegness and Mablethorpe on the coast and inland at Louth, Horncastle, Gainsborough and Hornbeach.
