What a lovely Lincolnshire location this is – Riverview Caravan Park’s spot on the banks of the Witham river is a mighty scenic place to spend a bit of time… You’re on holiday, so you’d be quite justified in deciding to settle down right there by the river for lengthy periods in the company of a book and/or picnic. It's also a rather a fine idea to keep that view in sight by taking advantage of the site’s fishing rights or heading out for a waterside walk. Kids not really into all this sitting down or gentle strolling malarkey? No problem – there’s a playground where they can race about, and a seasonal indoor pool for splashing about whatever the weather. If they (or you) are plane fans, they may like to know that RAF Conningsby is a short distance away, with fighter jets and occasionally the Lancaster flying overhead. It can get a bit noisy (especially during the week) but settle down for your own personal air show and enjoy the sights. The family-friendly vibe stretches to the site’s restaurant, which serves homecooked food and has a beer garden overlooking the river. On Saturdays and Sundays, it serves a full English breakfast, and on Sundays, there is a Sunday roast up for grabs. It also has a kids' menu. On site, there is also a bar (open on Fridays and Saturdays only) which serves food for lunch or dinner, and has a family room, grownups’ area and snooker and pool tables. The team has made an effort to make facilities accessible to less mobile visitors too. For out-and-about times, local town Tattershall is less than 10 minutes away by car and Lincoln city centre around 35 minutes.

Liked: Fantastic place, so child and dog friendly there’s a club house with beautiful food, park for the children. All staff so welcoming second time we have stayed and we even brought my mum and step dad second time round and they stayed in a pod. Can’t wait for next time

Disliked: Rubbish signal but nothing they can do about that!

Liked: This is the second time we’ve been this year and like the first time it was amazing. Phil the on-site manager is really good at his job being pleasant,helpful and a genuine guy with nothing being to much trouble. The pub on-site that does good as well and he said a little shop is opening which will save having to travel out to Tattershall village. The cleaner needs to be praised as she does a really good job and is thorough and the shielded/toilets was always clean..!we’ve already booked to come in October as well.

Disliked: The only thing I’d say after a busy summer the pods just need some maintenance..

Liked: Friendly place with the cleanest toilet facilities I have encountered whilst being away. Manager Phil was very friendly and made sure we were OK. Clubhouse serves food which we never had and also a swimming pool which is pretty cold tbh..bearable for a small time. Karaoke, quiz night and bingo on the nights so plenty to do for everyone...will definitely be returning.

Disliked: Pool needs to be a bit warmer

Liked: Everything second time visiting and already booked again!!! Such a beautiful site with a friendly owner and staff. We love this site for the feeling of kids being safe baby able to run free beautiful bar and pool definitely become our favourite and so many happy memories made we can't wait to make more!

Liked: Pods were very well equipped, staff were also really helpful and friendly. As I stayed midweek, watching the RAF jets taking off was an added bonus for me personally.

Disliked: WiFi was only available in the clubhouse and mobile service was very limited though this was due to the location and not any fault of the site.

Liked: What a hidden gem our pod was spacious and comfortable had everything we needed .The site manager was friendly and welcoming and very helpful. Was anle to purchase hot food whole we was there which was a bonus and cheap too. The added bonus was location lovely river walking and plenty of benches to just sit and immerse yourself in nature Also toilets and showers were very clean

Local attractions

Having viewed your own bit of the river, it’s likely that you’ll be enticed into getting out for a walk – especially when you learn that there are a couple of riverside pubs nearby. There’s more strolling to be done in Tattershall Lakes Country Park (five minutes’ drive), plus the chance to get a bit of watery activity at Just Wake wakeboarding centre. Take off to Tattershall (around 10 minutes’ drive) for a wander around Tattershall Castle – a proper textbook castle with a moat and 15th-century tower to potter around. Just outside town is Tattershall Farm Park (15 minutes), where egg collecting, sheep shearing and hanging out with hairy Highland cows are likely to meet with approval from tiddlers (and quite probably their elders too…). A day out in Lincoln (35 minutes) must surely be on the list – it’s got a real slice of history, being home to one of the four original copies of the Magna Carta. You’ll likely feel like you’ve stepped back in time if you catch a film at Kinema in the Woods (15 minutes) too: the flicks have been running since 1922 here, and there’s still a resident organist to provide the tunes.
