  • Luxurious glamping site with pond views on a Lincolnshire farm
  • RAF Scampton 15 minutes’ drive, Lincoln Cathedral 20 minutes
  • Walks on site and afternoon teas available; village pub next door
With sheep and chickens roaming freely around to give the place a real rural vibe, Ashleigh Farm Caravan and Glamping is a luxurious little site on five peaceful acres 15 minutes' drive from Gainsborough in Lincolnshire. As well as all the farm's residents wandering around, look out for colourful sunsets and the chance to spot the Milky Way on clear nights. Overlooking a pond and open fields, the stylishly decorated accommodation comes with comfy beds and woodburning stoves to keep everyone nice and warm. Bedding is all included, as are welcome packs containing tea, coffee, sugar, hot chocolate, milk, marshmallows and freshly baked goodies. Beyond the individual units, shared facilities include firepits with barbecue grills, and two generous heated bathrooms (suitable for disabled visitors) with double waterfall showers and complimentary toiletries. Nearby is a play area that's been set up with a climbing frame with monkey bars, swings and slides (along with a seating area close by where grownups can keep a beady eye on their offspring while nursing a coffee; parents are asked to make sure their kids are supervised at all times). More treats for your holiday? The site owners run a bakery producing artisan breads, cream cakes and tempting afternoon teas, which are available to order when you arrive. If it's a pint you're after, there's a traditional village pub next door that you can walk to in less than five minutes. Please note that dogs are not allowed at this site, due to the presence of livestock.

Witch Hut camping pod

Liked: We stayed in one of the Witches Hut for 2 nights and found it to be very comfortable and warm. The huts are very quirky and make for an interesting stay. We were greeted by the lovely Caroline who showed us around and explained the workings. She then personally delivered a welcome pack full of exciting treats and a few essentials. As requested by us prior to our stay Caroline had booked us a table at the Half Moon pub which is at the side of the campsite where we had a lovely evening meal. It was very busy so I'm glad we booked in advance and the locals were friendly and chatty. The rest of the evening was spent sat around the fire pit just outside the Witches Hut where good quality camping chairs are provided. The following day we visited Bransby Horses, a horse rescue centre, which was a short drive away. This is well worth a visit. Then onto Lincoln (15 min drive from Bransby). Once again the evening consisted of us chilling around a lovely fire chatting to the occupants in the next hut. A lovely time had by all. The next morning because we were checking out we decided to head into Gainsborough town centre (6 miles away) and have breakfast in Weatherspoons.

Local attractions

Whether you’re after a potter around local villages (perhaps with a pub involved) or looking for more challenging hikes in the Lincolnshire countryside, there are walking maps available on site to point you in the right direction. Likewise, there are family-friendly circular bike-ride options, or more strenuous workouts on the mountain bike trails at Sherwood Pines (50 minutes’ drive) and Willingham Woods (35 minutes). Fans of World War II history can head straight for the Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight Visitors Centre (an hour) – and for aircraft aficionados, the Red Arrows are based at RAF Scampton (15 minutes). You can watch their training exercises from the car park at the end of the runway, or sit yourself down outside your accommodation and watch them from a distance. Take in views of the historic city of Lincoln (20 minutes) as you walk around the walls of medieval Lincoln Castle, or explore the Gothic interior of the cathedral – built in the 11th century and for many years the largest construction in the country. And while you’re out and about, perhaps you'd like to forage for antique treasures from the indie stores in Hemswell (15 minutes)?
