What customers say
A tidy rural escape with top-notch shepherd's huts (hot showers included!). Praised for easy comms, safety, and good WiFi. Great for exploring and walks. Some sloping pitches and low hook-up amps noted, but levelling blocks are handy.

Great little quiet secluded site with excellent facilities.

Liked Great communication from the owners giving lots of information on the site prior to our visit.
Loved that it was a small site offering a maximum of 8 hardstanding campervan spaces all with a little well maintained grass area and electric hookup.
Booking was straightforward and the site itself was easy to find just off the A47 but far enough away so as not to be bothered by traffic noise. The main noise coming from the resident pheasant population and a couple of very acrobatic squirrels.
The small pods available to hire looked lovely and cosy with a veranda to sit out and watch the array of wildlife.
The toilets and pot washing area were all very clean, well lit at night and the showers were absolutely superb.
We loved the little caravan selling a few basic provisions and local gifts, the honey was especially good.
Plenty of good walking and cycling routes available taking in the surrounding villages and lovely countryside. There are two pubs in Houghton both within walking distance.
Disliked Wanting to balance my review but to be honest there was nothing to dislike.

Excellent site with very clean facilities and lovely people
Powered gravel motorhome site
Liked Absolutely lovely and calming site, the scenery was amazing, reasonably quiet with very good facilities. Amazing showers and outside heaters in the cubical so when you get out the shower is not freezing. Lovely little shop in the van, and a nice distance from the centre, would definitely recommend and come again. Lovely and amazing little camp site !!!
Disliked It wasn’t obvious where the bins were located, did have to go on a little walk around the entrance. The Pitches are more slanted than shown on website so it was a bit of a shock how much we had to level out the van. A little pre notification would have been nice but it didn’t take away from how lovely everything else was.

Lovely little site with clean facilities

Liked The pitches were well laid out and I liked that you could choose your own then use the cone to reserve it if you needed to go out. We levelled the van with no problems. As it is a small site, the toilets, showers and washing-up station were really close. Everything was very clean with plentiful hot water. The size of the site and location made it very quiet - apart from the pheasants who were also plentiful! The owners were very friendly and have a cute on-site shop, the psychedelic squirrel, with provisions and locally crafted goods. The information we received prior to arrival was very useful. We walked about a mile into the village and enjoyed a pint in The Black Horse - which was very dog-friendly and a super place to spend an hour or so. The free WiFi was good (we downloaded a film).

Liked The toilets were lovely, clean and warm. The lights around the site made it look so pretty. It was peaceful and well set out. So nice to be able to walk to the village pub which was about 25 minutes walk and the main road had a footpath so very safe. Lovely to see chickens and pheasants on site.
Disliked The site is under the flight path of planes going into East Midlands at night so we found it noisy when planes flew over which woke us up.

Lovely quiet site with a relaxing vibe
Powered gravel motorhome site
Liked - The site has 8 hard standing pitches and takes a maximum of 6 bookings per night - so you always have a choice of at least 3 pitches, even if you’re last to arrive. Brilliant.
- A lovely atmosphere on site, a quirky toilet/shower ‘block’ with 2 toilet/showers and 1 gents loo and 1 ladies loo (not sure why they need labelling for a specific gender though!). All kept clean with cleaners on site each day I was there.
- Quirky on-site little shop inside a retro caravan.
- Nice peaceful feel and quiet hours from 9pm to 7am. There is some road noise from cattle grids nearby but it’s infrequent.
- Contactless check in with helpful text messaging from the owner.
- Ground is uneven but levelling blocks are provided from behind the toilets, if you don’t have your own - great idea.
- Water is hot and water pressure is strong watch makes for a lovely hot shower.
- There were some flights overhead going to East Midlands Airport but not really that noticeable. It might be more noticeable in other wind conditions. I just like using the Flight Radar app to work out where they’re coming from!
- I didn’t bring a fire pit but saw others using one. One of the glamping pods has a wood-fired hot tub so I’m assuming the fire pits are also permitted.
- Eco Green toilet chemicals required, but the provided toilet facilities may mean you don’t need to use this anyway.
Disliked - No grey waste point.
