  • Scenic and well-looked-after field with plenty of plants and trees
  • Offa’s Dyke Path and Hay-on-Wye around 20 minutes’ drive
  • Wildlife pond, bird hide, field shelters and play area on site
Get those bags packed as soon as possible, as the scenic and well-looked-after field at Lake Bridge Stables sounds just right for an outdoor holiday. It's just a 20-minute drive from Wales’ book town, Hay-on-Wye, and historic Offa’s Dyke Path, within Wales' Golden Valley. It gets better; the site is in the village of Kinnersley, on the road from Leominster to Brecon, making it easy to get out and about. It’s a large open space with animals and trees for what will hopefully – should the conditions play along nicely – result in some stargazing followed by a peaceful night’s sleep. In all, there are eight acres of level pasture on site, plus a stable block, field shelters, a pretty wildlife pond and a bird hide. The site, which previously gained planning permission as a personal outdoor manège, has also hosted community events like local car boot sales. Nowadays, though, it has a play area and the option of having breakfast delivered to the site. There’s no shop, but there the nearest one is a five-minute walk away. There are plenty of restaurants within a short drive too, including the huge variety of options in Leominster, 15 minutes’ drive away.
