Liked: Washroom facilities modern, clean & well stocked. Unfortunately we stayed during a period of bad weather so, unable to comment further. But, warm and welcome reception. Nice quiet location.

Liked: Really peaceful site, excellent for dark skies. Restaurant serves good, hearty food with friendly staff. Cider tasting in the shop definitely worth a visit. Toilets and showers clean and tidy. It is on a working farm so expect rustic.

Unpowered grass site

Liked: Lovely welcome, beautiful pitch in the orchard, we were the only ones there that evening so really peaceful. Toilets and showers were immaculate and no rush to move us on the following morning. Bought a few ciders and plenty of free samples to make sure you get one you like before you spend! Would definitely stay again.

Liked: The facilities were great and it was a very relaxed and quiet campsite. Great value for money.

Disliked: Shower curtains too close! Field very uneven and the grass a bit long. Could do with recycling bins too.

Unpowered grass site

Liked: Very relaxed campsite with lots of space and nice views. Ideal for family gathering. A few animals to look at on the farm and plenty of space for kids to run around in. Camping field is in an orchard where the ground was a bit thistly/nettly in places but mostly flat wnough to pitch on. Pitch anywhere approach. Basic but clean toilets/showers. Would recommend taking own toilet roll as not always topped up. Plenty of ciders to sample as well!

Unpowered grass site

Liked: Lovely sized pitch in an orchard, with outstanding countryside views. Beautiful food and drinks in the restaurant on site (they make their own Gwatkin cider). Plenty of nice walks for the dogs too. Toilets/showers pretty basic but clean and adequate for our needs. Very friendly, helpful and welcoming staff and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely return and recommend to family and friends.

Disliked: Can't really dislike as we knew already but if they had ehu I bet you'd be lucky to book in, it's such a lovely place.

Liked: Friendly staff. New toilets & showers. Food at restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced. We even had a mini tour of the cider farm. They do mini festivals too. 👍🏻

Disliked: No electric hook up and It’s quite a distance from any shops etc. Stock up before you go.

Local attractions

Walking is a real treat around here – favourite spots nearby include the Cat’s Back (half an hour’s drive) and Hay Bluff (35 minutes), as well as the hour-long walk from the site to Dore Abbey. For other outdoor activities, try canoeing from Symonds Yat (35 minutes), horse riding/pony trekking with Noakes Farm Riding Centre (50 minutes) or go-karting at Herefordshire Raceway (half an hour). For something a little less strenuous, take walks around National Trust site The Weir Garden and Brobury House Gardens (both 20 minutes), or sign up for a llama trekking experience with Golden Valley Llamas (10 minutes). A day spent exploring the many bookshops of Hay-on-Wye (20 minutes) is usually a good idea too, as is one wandering around the city of Hereford (25 minutes), taking in the cathedral, the Mappa Mundi exhibition and the Black and White Museum – and maybe also the Museum of Cider?
