Lovely clean facilities close to the local village (not much there) so would take my own provisions or use the shop on site. Love that there are no fireworks allowed and the site in general is very dog friendly. Excellent site if you just need to chill/relax.

    Disliked:

Nothing to dislike other than lack of phone internet/reception but to be honest was glad to put the phone in a drawer and forget about it for a few days. If you need WiFi you can either use the free WiFi near reception or pay for during your stay

The weather was appalling but fun, wind, hail rain. Most welcome was the warmth in the Shower/ toilet block. It was too cold after a brilliant summer to venture into a shower if it had not been so cosy in there. Very clean and a well stocked shop with internet access in the shop and somewhere to sit.

    Disliked:

For some it will be absolutely perfect in the middle of nowhere with a fabulous view from the dog walk as well as a wind that would knock you over but that was just the weather that day. For me it was a place to park with a lot of Chalets and Caravans around. No views from where we parked with nice trees planted around so I cant give it 5 out of 5.because the really great sites have such pleasant views all around and for a place that does have views you couldn't see them. Although to be fair if you did the wind might be too much.

Local attractions

Splendiferous stately homes nearby include Chatsworth House, which also has an animal farm park and woodland adventure playground, or Elizabethan Hardwick Hall, where you’ll find events as varied as yoga walking to den-making within the 2,500 acre grounds.

This part of the country is also stuffed with market towns to bumble around: riverfront Bakewell, where it would be rude not to sample the eponymous puddings; Ashbourne, home to over 200 listed buildings; Leek, where you can hop aboard a steam train alongside beautiful Rudyard Lake; Castleton, with a Norman castle and some impressive underground caverns; or Buxton, a splendid spa town with glorious gardens and its own opera house.

The Roaches, near Leek, are far more pleasant than they sound: a prime Peak District spot for walking, hiking and other outdoorsy stuff, with fab views of the surrounding countryside.
