  • Rural Bedfordshire campsite with 100 acres of parkland
  • Golf and horse riding 20 minutes’ drive; Santa Pod Raceway 35 minutes
  • Lakeside café, bar and restaurant; free hot showers in the clubhouse
Set in 100 acres of landscaped parkland, the tourer and tent pitches at Box End Park campsite await sporty families for a few days of fun on two purpose-built water-sports lakes, filled with natural spring water. No worries though if you’d simply prefer to relax lakeside and enjoy the peaceful rural Bedfordshire setting. Activities to be booked separately and enjoyed on site include a giant floating aqua park, open-water swimming, paddleboarding, cable kneeboarding and cable wakeboarding. Out of the water, you can try frisbee and football golf, or the lakeside running-and-nature trail. All the pitches are on flat, well-drained grassland, and the site has its own dedicated toilet block with washing-up sinks. Free hot showers are located in the main clubhouse and are shared with the water-sports facilities. When you need to refuel, there’s a bar, restaurant and café offering a range of catering throughout the week (the café is closed in winter and the restaurant on Mondays). Barbecues are permitted off the ground at the pitches, but no campfires please. This is a quiet family site with a strict no-noise policy after 10.30pm, so perhaps it’s not the place for you if you’re after a wild nightlife – having said that, the historic market town of Bedford is only 15 minutes’ drive away, with its healthy helping of pubs and restaurants.

From the manager: Hi Martin, Thank you so much for your feedback and we're sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your stay as this is the complete opposite of what our team work so hard to strive for here at Box End Park. In regards to the electricity as you mentioned we received your complaint upon check-out and so the team chose to refund your full electric charge back to you to compensate for this .... Regarding our shower and toilet facilities these are cleaned every morning & evening. If you had let us know on the day of your stay we could have made your visit more enjoyable and resolved the issue there and then. Thank you for letting us know and we have fed back to our department managers. Many thanks, Box End Park

Liked: Staff were all really happy & helpful.Very good large flat pitches, with water & electric points close by. Really clean & lovely view of the lake.Lots to do for water enthusiasts & a lovely walk around the lakes if not. Reported a blocked toilet, quickly rectified

Disliked: The toilets need improving. 3 ladies toilets would struggle to be enough if the camp was full. The 1st sink cold water tap needs looking at, as when you put it on, it sprays all over the floor. It would definitely benefit having a shower block installed in the camp site area. People not keeping their dogs on leads as requested

From the manager: Hi there, Thank you so much for your lovely feedback and we're so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay here with us. We thank you for your feedback and you'll be pleased to know that we have just invested in a brand new toilet & shower block to service the campsite which will replace our current unit later on this year. Thank you for letting us know about the tap and also we do ask all campers to keep their dog on a lead at all times so it's disappointing to hear that not all campsite users respected this policy during your stay. If this is not being followed please do make our team aware straight away using the phone number provided to you at check-in so our campsite team can act on this there and then to help you enjoy your stay even more :) We do hope to see you back here again soon and have a lovely rest of your summer. Many thanks, Box End Park

Power optional grass site

Liked: The site was lovely, with the view of the lake. Staff friendly and helpful. Lots to do if we had more time.

Disliked: Only couple of dislikes, there was nowhere to get any kind of breakfast which would have been great with the facilities on site. Also there was someone playing a TV of some kind quite loud until midnight (not really the sites fault) it made it difficult to get a good nights sleep.

From the manager: Hi there, Thank you so much for your lovely review, we are so glad you enjoyed the site and we really look forward to seeing you back here with us again soon! Thank you so much for this feedback. We do have a no noise between 22:30pm - 07:00am and are sorry to hear that one of your fellow campers didn't fully respect this during your stay. If this happens on your next visit please don't hesitate to call the out of hours emergency number on your welcome pack so our team can respond to this straight away. Our cafe and restaurant opening hours do vary throughout the year so we do advise checking this in advance of your stay, as well as the local supermarkets and eateries in the local area. We do really appreciate your feedback though and will see how we can improve on this going forwards. Many thanks, Box End Park

Power optional grass site

Liked: Nice view of the lake Had electric hook up Only £20 per night for grass pitch Staff were friendly and helpful at reception. Perfect area for us as we were visiting family in Bedford.

Disliked: Camping toilet facilities were really bad (in the middle of the touring/camping pitches) Didn't get to see the other toilets as only stayed for 1 night and didn't return to the site until 9.30pm Had not read the information on the electric hook up (my own fault for not reading!) Was told at reception that I needed to leave a £10 deposit, on my debit card. Electric was metered at £0.30 per kWh We just used electric for lights in campervan & kettle for 1 evening. I am hoping that I get a good refund as someone on site has told me that it was a minimum of £5 spend which we obviously wouldn't have used.

Power optional grass site

Liked: Lovely stay although only for just one night as traveling on. Friendly helpful staff, great setting looking over the lake and enjoyed watching the wakeboarders while sitting enjoying a pint. Nice onsite bar/restaurant. We never ate but did have drinks.

Disliked: Little bit busy as a triathlon was on but was warned in advance so no issues. Toilets were a bit tired but clean and functional. Only one cubicle shower in the men's unless you fancy a communal one, so if busy you have to wait.
