Spacious campsite with everything you need, peace, nature, and fun

Jul 2024

Liked This campsite offers the ideal location tucked away in a forested valley with a small stream running alongside it. Tranquillity abounds. The hostess is a smile-ready woman who makes you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. The site also has a large game room for children with toys, board games, and books. The facilities (showers, toilets, and dishwashing sinks) are large and clean. The campsite is also a short walk from the small village where you can find two small grocery stores, three restaurants, and a small bakery and coffee shop.

Disliked We enjoyed everything.

Well-located, well-maintained, well-suited to families.

May 2023

Liked The campground has some wonderful and well-maintained amenities. The parcels are well spaced, the toilets and showers are clean, the playground for children has a jungle gym, a basketball court and a soccer field. The pool looks clean and well maintained. The site even has some legit exercise equipment.

Disliked My only complaint, if you can call it that, is that the campsite is a little difficult to reach by car. You end up on unpaved back roads that delineate every so often with inadequate sing posting. A few more 'arrowed signs' would make it easier. Also, (not a complaint, but a recommendation), we stayed there at the end of May and the indoor recreation room with pool table and pin ball machines was closed. We were told it opens in June. This doesn't make sense. Why would an indoor rec room not be open year-round. It's the perfect place to beat the cold, rain, snow, etc.

Camping at its best: clean, comfortable, and fun with helpful staff.

Apr 2023

Liked Let's start with the location: this campsite is situated in a tree-covered valley beside a river and far enough away from the nearest street that you never hear cars. The flow of the river makes for the perfect ambient noise at night. And in the morning, you're awakened by birdsong. Nature stuff: trails lead through the forest and up the mountain. Within reasonable walking distance, you come across two impressive waterfalls. In the summer, you could bath in a pool beneath one of them. A short car drive (or bicycle ride) from the camp, you can find (with the help of locals) thermal hot springs. Budget considerations: our family of three stayed in a pitch tent, which only cost 13 euro/night. For families on a budget, this is ideal. Fun for families: the campground also has some extra fun things for children. Outside, they have a tampoline and a badminton net. In the game room, they have an arcade machine with all sorts of old school Nintendo games, as well as rackets for badminton and paddle ball, mallets, balls, and hoops for croquet, and balls for petanque. Amenities: the showers are hot and kept very clean. No wet floors. No weird smells. Extras: the hosts provide any camping items you either don't have or might have forgotten. A couple we met, arrived without a tent and rented one for a night. We helped them set it up. It was in perfect condition. Staff: Mika and Audrey are the couple who run the place, and they do everything to make your stay enjoyable. You see them hustling around the grounds all day, cleaning, helping, setting things up. One day, we left a bag on the playground swing. They picked it up and brought it to us.

Disliked Zero complaints.

Quiet nature spot tucked away in a forested valley with a lake nearby

Aug 2021

Liked This is the second year in a row that my wife and I and our young son (3 years old) have stayed here. The campsite is nestled in a narrow valley beside a small swimmable lake with just enough trees to provide the right amount of shade without obstructing a view of the stars at night. The onsite pool is heated, and there's a bouncy castle for children. What more could a small family ask for? A schedule of all the local outdoor street markets, perhaps? Well, they have that, too. Are you looking to mix in a little high-culture as well? Avignon, with it's castle, is a short drive away. But for us, the main attraction is the Carrieres de Lumieres museum. A literal cave, built into the side of a mountain, we have gone three years straight--a tradition that we hope continues for many years to come. And now that we've found the Happy valley campsite, we know where we're going to stay next year and the year after that and the year after that.

A three-star campsite tucked away in a forested valley

Aug 2020

Liked We loved everything about this place. We stayed here with our two-year-old son for four nights and could have stayed forty more. The camp is tucked away in a forested valley, surrounded by nature, with a beautiful lake for swimming just a stone's throw from the camp's entrance. The staff welcomed us with smiles and seemed genuinely sad when we left. As far as the facilities, the bathrooms were clean, the showers hot, and the pool warm. The purpose of our stay was to visit Les Carrièrs de Lumières, the cave museum in Les Baux-de-Provence, featuring a multimedia art exhibition with projecting images set to music. This year, the feature artists were two Catalans--the surrealist painter Salvador Dalí and the architect Antoní Guadí. I thought the exhibit would be the highlight of our trip, but after spending three days at the lake and every night staring up at the constellations counting the shooting stars, I'm not so sure it was. An additional surprise came on our second-to-last day when we took one of the front office day-trip suggestions to visit one of the nearby farmer's markets in Apt. After a brief stroll through the tiny alleyways of this village, we found ourselves loaded up with lavender-soaked olives, blueberry salchichón, cheese covered in herbes de provence, a baguette of vegetable charcoal, and lavender honey, among other picnic items. With so many unexplored day-trips and hiking trails to go along with the beauty and tranquility of the camp, our return is a guarantee.
