Camping pod
Liked Owner honoured our booking for a week later as we all came down with a virus which was very kind:) the site is very quiet which totally suited us as we were looking for a quiet escape from noisy Merseyside. Pod and site very accessible no probs very clean and warm. Good security.
Disliked Not much really. Could do with more lighting around the gate. There was only one other van/car on site that we saw but slight jam on the showers/toilets when we were trying to leave with only two showers/loos someone near wrenched the handle off in desperation trying to get in. Didn't like the fact the old woman with the van emptied her van toilet cassette in the ladies toilets instead of the elsan point not the owners fault at all but maybe another sign to stop seniors doing this it's rank!

Liked Liked everything from minute we got here the staff are so friendly. We had trouble finding an electric hook up as I think we got here last and one didn't work but cosied up close to another van and found a working hook up. The food is amazing high quality nosh a little pricey but worth every mouthful. Daughter liked the games room and had a game of darts. Showers nice and hot next morning will defo stay again.
Disliked Some woman bunked in front of us in the queue for food that's not a slur on the site just other ignorant people.

Old Pottery electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch
Liked The weather couldnt fault it warm sun almost every day. Got phoned to advise were our pitch would be as we got there late. We were allowed to pay our balance in instalments due to unforseen circumstances just before the holiday which was so helpful of the site. I don't think anyone else would allow that.
Disliked Says on the internet that showers are 50p when you get there they are £1 a shower for five min which is timed. Literally cost us loads for three of us. Getting told by long stay oaps in caravans we have to park the whole van on the concrete then watching them park on the grass and shout and scream byeeee at half 12 am and reving car engines despite it saying on the gate quiet after half9. I did complain about this before we left on Sunday but wastold the owner is not here today.these long term caravaners shouldn't be allowed to just do what they want and holiday visitors given a different set of rules as we were quiet every night. We actually have respect for others clearly these oaps don't .

Disliked We didn't actually go on this break as the owner refused to amend our booking at all. We booked only approx 10 days before but then got told you can't amend you have to give 30 days notice which doesn't really make any sense. They shouldn't be taking bookings within 30 days as a family member was taken ill. Avoid at all costs.

Liked The friendly welcome the gorgeous weather spotless facilities definitely the peace and quiet as no other people there.
Disliked Nothing really. We got woken by the Cockerel in the middle of night but ultimately did find it funny the way it just went on and on.

Liked Quiet apart from first night loud music from another caravan
Disliked Most of it. Arrogance from the minute we arrived stared at us asking if we had a reservation despite booking in february. Half an hour for some food on arrival we were starving after a long journey and just kept looking at us as if we were aliens. Typical french. Caravan was tatty but clean. Perv holes drilled in doors. Insects on duvets covers . Wasps were a major problem and the french need to urgently see to it as you couldnt sit down outside without being attacked. Asked for a hoover to tidy the caravan floor and had to ask twice. Wasnt given the code for the gate on arrival and got locked out one evening coming back with the car so had to walk. I am registered disabled and being tired aswell this was a bit ignorant. Even though we werent the douche in the toilet area i did notice a large clump of pubic hair in one shower how discusting. The arrogant french woman refused to give our 'cleaning'deposit back of 50euros and inspected the caravan in minute detail even counting the glasses in the cupboard and sniffing the air god knows what for. The caravan was as clean as when we were given it and the skanky shoes on the front porch werent even ours.

Liked Very tidy and clean site and much better than we expected. No noise from any wedding party either although we wouldnt have minded. Only noticed the sign in the toilets saying strictly no alcohol allowed no barbies without permission ooops :) another family didnt have their dog on the lead at all times like this sign stated but seemed like they were enjoying themselves aswell. Toilets and shower very clean and free. Owner of the venue was fine about us getting there later than what we said and was quite pleasant.
Disliked There was only one shower for all the guests and i had to wait quite a while to get a shower when we had to leave to pick our daughter up as had been at her grandparents and this delayed us. Woman in there took half an hr and another guest told me he waited 45 min for a group of teens to come out. Maybe there should be a timer on the shower to stop people hogging it. I found it a bit strange a man using the female toilets. He said we were all allowed to use both facilities. Considering it had men and women signs on seperate doors i find this hard to believe. Strange people in Macclesfield lol

From the manager: Thank you for the review Gaynor, it's lovely to read you had such a lovely stay with us - minus the meeting in the ladies, apologies for this as we do have ladies and gents separate toilets. It's a shame to read the facilities were busy at your time of stay, we'd hope guests would try to keep to a limited time when using the facilities but unfortunately this isn't always the case. It's great to read you would come and visit us again too! Kind regards, Olivia

Liked Liked almost everything about this place. Friendly warm welcome even in the rain! Convenient space right near the water tap and entrance path to showers/toilet and a great tyre swing for my daughter which she happily played on for ages with a couple of little lads that were also there. I appreciated the owner explaining why we had to take our own rubbish away and them not providing rubbish facilities anymore at the end of the day they have been abused and the facility removed. Clever thinking of Lorraine to make some cash back from abandoned tents and belongings :) i would visit again in we went that way the facilities are spotless with covid gels and clear instructions for the shower and facilities. Good value for money too.
Disliked Just the mud our van was covered with it haha but not the owners fault just the weather which cant be helped.

From the manager: unfortunately we cannot please evertone. we did give you information that things were still under construction and whilst you stayed 2 nights you did not say anything .for the price you paid you even set up a tent by the side of your campervan which we did not say anything to that.rules were that children had to be accompanied when going through the beer garden but your children were roaming around freely and even came into our residential property area as well. wjilst we are still constructing the childrens play area .we have the use of our private woods and private river which over the weekend families were happy with that and enjoyed their own private woods and river.i do not understand with the reference cheap crap. for the price we charge ,you get to use electric hook up no boundary on your gazebo, awning. and even provide toilet and shower facility and water ...the pub was shut but people could bring their own alcohol to sit in the beer garden and to order takeaway or food with us.do not understand cheap crap here ...as the ppitch is for a field pitch .this is not butlins and i i think you should be reading what you are booking for before you booked to expect more luxurious things then this is not the place for you.

Liked this is a much better site than the other one owned by hagan leisure in lancashire. I loved having a shower with hot water after being in the pool and the entertainment staff were amusing. The kids daytime entertainment could of been better after paying for a few squidgy bowls of icing and a single cake.internet signal is brilliant.extremely helpful touring pitch male who was in charge my daughter played with his kids.
Disliked snotty mancs hogging the hot showers after the pool as there was only two

Liked Lovely quiet location despite being on a working farm. Pleasant friendly farm staff who left us to get on with it which was great. Clean showers and toilets using a fifty pence.
Disliked Flies in the lodge with only one fly paper which wasnt adaquate enough. One farm dog escaped on the last day and frightened my daughter by barking and growling at her we did tell the lady but attitude towards it left a little to be desired tbh

Liked The staff are always pleasant and smiling. Our pitch was furthest away from the toilets this time but were fine about it as we had peace and quiet around us and no other caravans or camper vans in the vicinity. Our daughter loves the soft play and the pool although i would really like some 'private' showers to wash in not on view of everyone in the pool. The site is very good with some decent planned out activities she had a go at the water walkerz and the cinema club and we enjoyed seeing Chelsea winning the europa league on the big screen :)
Disliked Mid week there were rowdy teenagers shouting and screaming running past the caravan which we could of done without

Liked The friendliness of the site. The caravan 13 idea was very good and not tacky like I thought it would be maybe a bit more guidance as to age of children buying tickets as I thought too scary for primary school aged children. Toilets and showers very clean every day. Entertainment even at the end of the season. Will defo be going again next year.
Disliked The loud swearing group who parked their caravan a short distance away thank god we weren't next to them.

Liked Everything about this little break was brilliant from start to finish. We arrived in the area and had a lovely meal before arriving just after 4 and having a lovely welcome from the lady and Max the dog. Hot tub on constantly and hut made up complete with xmas decs :) Even brought us some milk for our tea. Bonus was the fact for the entire evening we had the hot tub to ourselves as the pack of males next door had descended on the local boozer. Weather was good to us too so will defo be back sometime in 2018 cheers
Disliked The dirtiness of the pack of males in the other hut. Left the bathroom in an utter state but cant blame the owner for that i just dont think they should allow packs of single males/females to stay again as when she looked at the hut after they had vanished at that crack of dawn it was pure horror.

From the manager: Many thanks for your review and high score and so glad you enjoyed the hot tub. I am sorry that the guests in the other hut left the bathroom in a mess and I will ensure I keep an eye out when there are group bookings and thank you for your feedback. Many thanks again for your booking and best wishes for the New Year. Adrianne

Liked The general layout and management were very friendly, the toilets and showers were very clean and the lady even hired an extra portaloo to accomodate a busy campsite on a bank holiday weekend. The views from this site are fantastic even on a dull day. The utilities room is very handy with a dryer washing machine fridge freezer and plenty of leaflets about eating out etc
Disliked I am not very happy that were various people on the site offering to take my daughter off the site for walks with their dog! The site was very busy and our daughter got friendly with a young boy who decided to tell his parents that our daughter had been dropped and pushed on the floor who promptly phoned the local police who then tracked us back to our home. It has transpired that it was lies and am very angry that site is allowing such judgemental people to camp there who also immitate my daughter being frustrated her ball was lost. Whilst i understand that the site would not be able to vet every customer that pays to stay there i am sure they also dont want random police calls to the site for nothing more than made up rubbish. I think that maybe the site was slightly too busy and this man was frustrated with being jammed in like a sardine and had launched an attack on my family. It is against the guidelines of the nspcc to imitate a child the way he did and people should be made aware of the clientel this site attracts.
