Ilfracombe, Devon, England
Badger non-electric grass and earth tent pitch (six person)
Liked Me and my son visited so we could go to the Grampus pub nearby. The site is rugged and wild (with pigs!), but we had lots of space around us and it felt so relaxing to be able to sit under the stars. Facilities are minimal, but they served us well. The site owners were friendly and explained how everything worked. Will definitely be back next year!
Disliked It is a bit of a hike to the site, with a steep hill, but we were totally OK with this. Just worth bearing in mind when you're packing.

Winscombe, Somerset, England
Non-electric grass and earth tent or motorhome pitch (sloping, maximum 6 metres)
Liked A lovely and well-kept field with great views of the Bristol channel and horses big and small, and plenty of space. Basic facilities (a portaloo and a sink with a hose), but it was about half the price of another site we looked at in the area!
The owners seem quite hands-off, which we actually really appreciated.
There's a decent pub (The Swan at Rowberrow) a two-minute walk away. Or two-minute walk there and 10-minute stumble back.
Disliked No showers, but we went to the (lovely) swimming pool in nearby Cheddar for a dip and a wash.

From the manager: Thank you for your kind review, we really appreciate it. We try not to interfere as much as possible with our lovely guests as most people prefer that, but we are very much available at any time if needed. Thank you for the feedback and glad you had a nice stay.
