If you like busy sites this will suit you. Peace and quiet NO

Aug 2026

Liked Friendly staff, the site runs well and they cater for most things. Clean and tidy facilities.

Disliked Road noise through the night, although they state no noise on site after a certain time they don’t enforce it and it was noisy for us but obviously that changes with the guests at the time you visit. If like us you like the sound of owls in the night and not people walking past all night and people talking it’s not the place. But we are old farts 😆

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We're pleased to hear you found our team friendly, the site well run, and our facilities clean and tidy. We're sorry to hear that the noise levels didn't quite meet your expectations. We take our quiet hours very seriously and have a structured quiet policy in place. Low noise begins at 9:15 pm, with complete silence expected by 10:45 pm. To help enforce this, our wardens carry out walk rounds at both the low noise and no noise times, and these rounds are fully recorded using body-worn cameras. Having reviewed the recordings from the dates of your stay, I can confirm that both scheduled walk rounds were completed as planned. The footage indicates that guests were complying with our policy, with low noise being observed during the 9:15 pm round and no noise by the 10:45 pm round. That said, we do appreciate that everyone has different expectations when it comes to what constitutes a peaceful evening. Whilst guests are permitted to quietly make their way back to their pitches before the no noise period begins, we understand that even normal movement and conversation may be more noticeable if you're hoping to enjoy complete tranquillity or listen to the local wildlife. Thank you again for your balanced feedback. We appreciate your comments and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Pinecones again in the future. Pinecones

Liked Lovely lovely site ,quiet and peaceful, just make sure you have enough supplies! Not a lot around. Walks from the site. Toilets adequate but a trail to the shower. Owners very pleasant and friendly. Look out for the wild goats out on the walks. Great place for a get away.

Nice site for a weekends walked ng but very noisy due to bypass.

Feb 2024

Liked Area walking was great we found lots in the four days we stayed right from the site. Owner very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The pub is very nice, big but friendly and the food worth the money. Just be very weary of the road !!!

Disliked The site needs tweaking but I’m sure it will be too notch very soon. Very very muddy getting about ! On and off pitches and to the loo ! No joke

From the manager: Thank you for the review ,the site is only recently opened ,April 2023 ,so we are still developing it ,we have a 12 month license ,but we did not realise so many people would want to come through the winter months ,and with the exceptional amount of rain we have had in the last six months the park is saturated ,we have 32 hard standing pitches but there is a grass strip between the road and the hard standing which has become extremely muddy ,so moving forward I am limiting the bookings so that I have time to try to resolve this issue and let the site dry out ,we have cancelled all tents until after March because of the wet conditions and will only allow tents back on when the ground drys out thank you .

If the weather is nice lovely place

May 2023

Liked The site is very new and everything is in fantastic condition. Lovely views of the hills and Ingelbourgh. The site is situated right on the middle of the falls walk but you will need to pay to complete it although you can walk either way to see the falls as long as you double back. No shops or pubs near and the road up to the site is one way and very narrow with some passing points. Definitely worth a visit.

Disliked Shame that you have to pay full price for the falls walk when the site is on it. Also the pitch prices are not on the cheap side.

A fabulous back to basic site with a touch of luxury included

Jun 2022

Liked Very clean site and toilets, friendly welcome on arrival. The pizzas are lovely and very welcome when we got settled in. Fire pit on our pitch for the evenings was great. Off lead dog walking in the wood. Walks straight from the site. A very nice rustic site for a short break.

Disliked Only two toilets so if you go when girl guides or scouts are there it’s very busy ( but it is their site and we are the visitors)

From the manager: Hi Terry, Thankyou so much for your lovely review! Really glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. The scouts and guides do their best to stay clear of our busy times for the campsite (school holidays), but they are here on the odd occasion at the weekend. Lovely to meet you both (and doggy)! Hopefully see you again :) Jessy

A very nice site for a weekend.

Jun 2022

Liked The location of this site is great for the local walks straight from site, which we did. Pub within a short stroll and does lovely steaks. Dog friendly pub and site.

Disliked The site is not suitable for bigger vans and would not be accessible in wet weather. Water point is a long way down hill but they have put one a bit nearer but it takes forever to come through due to distance. Lots of nettles and thistles in grass so not good for children. This may change when it’s cut. On our stay it was very long. On busy times beware ! No pitches allocated and is a free for all and you can be surrounded by small tents.

Jul 2021

Liked The weather was kind so camped right next to the river , lovely pitch you can have fire pit too. 15 minutes walk to the pub but on a road.

Disliked Unfortunately the way into the river for all the children was right on our pitch. Can’t have everything I suppose.

Try it , if you like walking it’s the place for you.

Jun 2021

Liked The location of this site is perfect for walking. There are walks in most directions and a very beautiful part of the country. Pubs in both directions on the river walks and one just up the hill near the site. Very steep field to go up though. If you are thinking of trying this site I would pick the grass field side not the gravel farm side. Gravel pitches are in the car park and are the main thoroughfare to the toilets so you have people passing your van at all hours.

Disliked Nothing , nice peaceful site at a good price.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for reviewing us and your comments have been taken on board. The gravel motor home pitch isn't so quiet when the field site is open. We're looking at ways in which we can make them both more private by locating them next to the fence overlooking the meadow.

Very nice and clean site

Apr 2016

Liked A very quiet site and all toilet block and showers always clean. Large pitches with all services next to them.

Disliked Only a very small toilet block, 2 toilets for each sex only and 1 shower each. Didn't bother us the site wasn't busy but I can see it being a very long wait if it is. Showers have no time limit.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Happy enjoyed your stay ! We do have and extra shower room on site
