Hay-on-Wye, Powys, Wales
Non-electric grass and earth campervan pitch
Liked Option to pick our own pitch, beautiful field with Walnut, pear and sweet chestnut trees. On the banks of the River Wye, squirrels running around the grass. Red kites and Buzzards flying so low over the site. Site is very clean, and staff are ever so friendly. 2 lovely pubs within a very short distance. I didn't use the onsite café but it looked very nice.
Disliked Should imagine at very busy times the facilities are not enough for demand. 2 toilets and 2 showers are defo not enough, and I think they need a re-fit.

Abersoch, Gwynedd, Wales
Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch
Liked Very friendly site manager who was very accommodating trying to arrange a different field for us to stay in on arrival,
Shop was very good,
Laundry room,
Liked the toilet and shower in same room,
Very clean facilities, and grass kept nice, lovely play park for the children,
Very nice view from site,
Lovely walk to Abersoch town down through the beach or Golf course
Also a lovely walk down to Ceiriad beach in the other direction
Disliked Not enough toilets to accommodate the amount of campers, periodically waited for a toilet to be free in both facilities blocks. Showers were hit and miss in the one block, either too hot or cold.
We stayed in the electric field but in the middle (non hook up section) it was over crowded. We felt we were too close to our neighbour and felt we needed to apologise for being too close to them and blocking their view, and the following camper felt he needed to apologise to us for being too close also. One tent was about 7/8 foot from us and he was about 6 foot from the next! Certainly don't practice their fire break rule as stated on their notice board, bearing in mind the manager showed us all to our pitches and told us where to pitch. We felt penned in and left a day early.

From the manager: Many thanks for taking the time to leave such a detailed review. We are pleased to read you enjoyed our location between 2 wonderful beaches and the onsite shop/facilities. We are sorry you felt the site was overcrowded. A tent should be 6 metres from their neighbours’ tent wall (not inc guy ropes)
Machynlleth, Powys, Wales
Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Loved the freedom to choose our own pitch, the site was spotlessly clean, facilities were very clean modern and had everything you'd need. The owner was very friendly and chatty too. But most of all the campsite is in the most stunningly beautiful area and the view was amazing. We will definitely visit again and stay for longer.
Disliked That we had to leave

New Quay, Ceredigion, Wales
Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch
Liked Level gravel pitches, nicely spaced out. Very friendly hosts. Offered to taxi us into town when needed. Facilities so very modern with hair dryer and straighteners available free of charge. Spotlessly clean site with recycling bins. Bus stop just down the road to travel to New Quay Aberaeron or further afield
Disliked 5 second spray of water in showers. Had to keep pushing the button for more water Maybe 20 second sprays would be better!
Also pitch automatically comes with electric hook up, whereas we don't need it as we've got leisure battery's, but on pitch up thats the only option. £80 for 2 nights was a little pricey for winter stay, but was happy to pay that as not many sites open 12 months
