Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Views. Caring owners. Spacious site. Great location. Close to interesting places to visit. I think this site has the potential to be really excellent site once the owners have got into their stride. Good site for family stopping just one night, or perhaps with their own shower facilities.
Disliked Not a site for anyone looking for peace, as while I was there it was busy with young families. Lots of car door slamming and excited children. Smelly toilets and no showers.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Nice location within a charming village. Good base for exploring a very beautiful area of Northern England. Clean loos, and showers. Away from noisy main roads. Great value for money. Friendly site owners. Dog friendly. Motorcyclist friendly. Little shed for washing the dishes. Very well organised site.
Disliked Noisy Skoda owning selfish campers that repeatedly slam their car door before 6am in the morning. But that is most certainly not the site owners fault, but I just wanted to get it off my chest!

Liked Great location. Quiet and Peaceful. Birdsong and trees. Open space. Clean Loo, and wash facilities. Ran by a very nice couple, with great welcome. Outstanding value for money. Charming, and relaxing site. Highly recommended. Welcome Cylclist and Motorcyclists alike. Summerhouse (big shed) with fridge, seating, Microwave, wifi, toaster and kettle. I loved the place.
Disliked Can't think of anything.

Camping pod (no pets)
Liked Well cared for campsite. Staff are very friendly. Very good toilet block. Security barrier at entrance. Nice grass. Located within walking distance of Beach, Supermarket, Ice Cream, Coffee shop, Slot machines, Bar. Good for Children. Heater in Pod. TV in Pod, but worked erratically. Power Socket in Pod. Electric Lights in Pod. Picnic table outside each Pod. Plenty of space in Pod for my needs.
Disliked LED on heater was too bright, so it lit up the Pod at night. Railway line at back of Pods, but trains are very few and seemed to stop after about 8pm ish (at least while I was there anyway). A little too close to neighbours, for my taste.

Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Lovely local area. Cafe with lots of seating, views over the marina. Good pot wash area near the camping field. Hot water on tap. Showers are a bit 'characterful' but again are hot and actually very efficient. I love this site, and look forward to my next visit.
Disliked First time I stopped in Pitch One the field was empty, and all was good. This time, there were three other tents on the field, and Pitch One was a bad spot - Portaloo doors being slammed late into the night. Not the site owners fault at all - entirely down to thoughtless and selfish campers. Just avoid Pitch One, because it is right next to the communal area, unless you like being kept awake at night.

Liked Big field with lots of space. Friendly site owner. No gates, or obstructive security like some big sites. Very nice local area to explore. Clean loos. Basic site, which is often better.

Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Loads of space. Well mown grass. Amazing landscape overlooking the Trent and Mersey Canal. Tea rooms with CAKE! Clean washing up area, with hot water, soap, and a good roof. Nice walking area. Friendly staff. I've found a new favourite. Simply perfect - well nearly anyway.
Disliked Not so keen on portaloos, but I can put up with them, because the rest of the site is so bloomin' great.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Fantastic views over Carp lake towards The Roaches. Nice big airy field, with plenty of space and panoramic views. Great farm shop with lovely bacon, butter, ice cream, canned drinks, and vegetables. The cutest little puppy I've seen this year! Shower is superb. Very helpful and friendly lady dealt with my booking-in.
Disliked No shelter over the dishwash sinks, so if it rains you will get wetter than your pots! Loos are pretty basic. Cows, Chickens, and Donkeys make a racket in the evening - but it is an active farm - it goes quiet after dark. Didn't appreciate a motorised grass strimmer being operated within five feet of my tent in the early evening, when this could of been done earlier in the day when the field was unoccupied.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, apologies over the lad strimming near to you, he should have been more observant, he comes to help on the farm after college, so unfortunately could not have done this earlier - we only advertise as wild camping to let our visitors know that our facilities are basic, hopefully as we grow this being only our 2nd season we can try to improve the facilities we have

Electric grass pitch
Liked Very likeable and friendly hosts. The site is compact, but nice, and next to a field of horses. What's not to like? The facilities are excellent, with hot showers, loos, clean drinking water, and somewhere to wash pots etc. There is even a mini shop with some kids stuff. And even better I got a sticker, which is now on my fridge. A reminder to go back later in the year!
Disliked Can't think of anything.

Liked Welcome was great. Clean site. Quiet. Five minute walk from a great Chippy, and a Supermarket. Washing machine. Hot water. Utility Room.
Disliked Showers are awkward to use because you have to hold your finger on the button constantly.

Liked The welcome was the best I've ever experienced ever while camping. Superb host. Lovely site. Beautiful farm. Nice to watch horse riding tuition taking place. Everyone was kind, happy, friendly, and the facilities were spotlessly clean.

Robin non-electric grass pitch
Liked Welcome was excellent. Friendly people that went out of their way to make my short stay a good one. I arrived too late for a meal in the restaurant, so I was very fortunate to be offered a take-away meal, for which I was very grateful. The shop is well stocked too - try the scones!
The shower block and wash facilities are a cut above the average. No fiddling around to find short change, and they are HOT! There are optional sinks outside for washing pots or whatever just got filthy.
Disliked Nowt to think of.
