Awesome little sight that has been well cared for and well thought out08/12/2024

Welcome email had so much useful info advising inventory and all important gate and door codes. The key pads even illuminate in low light.
The Crabby Apple shepherd’s hut was equipped with a raised large really comfortable bed. And a thoughtfully provided step for those of us who are vertically challenged. The “kitchen” was provided with plates, bowls, cups, glasses, cutlery, basic cookware and utensils, along with a washing up bowl, dishcloth and tea towel. There was also gas canister powered hobs and a kettle. There was also a fold up single bed and a chest of drawers. Thoughtful provision of a game of ring toss hung on the door. The outside area was screened off by slatted fences and little trees. There was a wood burner as well as treadle table and wooden corner chair/table unit as well as a decent sized garden umbrella Overall a very cute, affordable, highly recommended space of don’t want to use tent or motorhome. They have their own kitchen on site “Fudeboy”. Cajan vegan fusion which smelled delicious, but I already had meal plans off site
A lovely site with good facilities including grey and chemical toilet waste, showers that were lovely and powerful, toilets and washing up areas as well as a play park for children. Very well cared for grass areas and packed gravel road.

    Disliked:

The only thing I would have liked was mosquito netting so the window could be left open at night, or a fan. And maybe usb ports in the extension leads. But these did not detract from a lovely stay

Good, small site. Clean, good facilities. Nice little touches that go over and above. Both the campsite owners and chef of Fudeboy are very friendly, approachable and professional (also recommend the food from Fudeboy). Good play facilities to keep the kids entertained.

    Disliked:

Wifi was a bit patchy depending on where you were on the site. However this is only a very minor thing for us. Noise from the nearby road, particularly during rush hour. It was fine for us but others may want to be aware of this. On the whole, a very good campsite.

A nice tidy campsite. John the handyman was very welcoming and friendly man to chat with making our stay even better with a laugh or too, also Greg the chef for fudeboy kitchen, I’m a meat eater and that plant based burger was out of this world. Definitely made me think twice about plant based.
The owner was a nice man aswell. Unfortunately some kids didn’t appreciate the games room, breaking the table tennis ball and darts but he gave us one to keep hold of so we didn’t have to suffer without a game. The clubhouse was nice and tidy. Pool table was fun, definitely on the slant though 😉 haha. This campsite is fairly central for most places to visit with the furthest we had to drive was about 45mins. Would 100% come again. The WiFi was ok on my phone but we also brought a laptop for those rainy nights and surprisingly the internet worked perfectly on it. Yes you could hear the road but we only really heard it around 8-9pm after that it’s not bad.

    Disliked:

Nothing. There are some niggly bits but once you get use to how it all is it’s fine. Took me a day or two to get use to the fact you don’t check in or anything but it’s quite nice to be left to your own accord. If you’re not a fan of walking in the dark like my partner, bring a torch as the only lights are the toilets and they are motion sensored. I enjoyed the late night wander.

Fantastic site. We used it as a two night stop over on the way back north from Devon. 20 minutes from a park and ride into bath so a fantastic base for bath.

Facilities are great. Best showers I’ve had on a campsite.

Loads to do for kids park is great and the games rooms is clean and well maintained.

    Onsite takeaway is excellent.

Very clean and well maintained site. Stayed in the shepherds hut which had everything needed including a tin opener! Very safe site with gated entrance so the kids could play and couldn’t escape. Meant the adults could relax and talk while the kids went to the play area or games room. Central in Somerset for lots of attractions. Would definitely recommend!

    Disliked:

The only thing I would say is there’s no heating in the shower rooms and they did get cold but it’s camping!

We loved everything! The pitches were clean and tidy. The play area was great and don’t get me started on the games room and the bouncy castle! The toilet and shower blocks were very well kept and the owner was incredible helpful! We had a T5 that needed oil and he had some that he let us use. The staff are really great! The location is great with Wookey hole just 30mins away and Longleat just around the corner. We will definitely be back!

    Disliked:

Only downside I can think of is the size of the pitches and the camping field. We had a med-large tent we it just about fit. Getting a caravan in when it’s busy will be a little bit of a squeeze. It was relatively quiet when we went which was really great but I can see noise and space being a little hard if the site is fully booked.

From the manager...

Hi Shantel,

Thank you for your review.

Pitch sizes are in the information tab on Pitch Up. People book campsites according to their tent size. We have never had any problems with caravan's/motorhomes or campervans getting on the pitches, even at busy times.

When the campsite is full, it's a really lovely vibe with everyone enjoying themselves and children playing happily. We hope you do visit at a busy time so you can see what it's truly like.

Hi

Thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback.

We have reviewed our site rules and now do not allow groups of more than 3 families.

Did you realise there was another shower block with alternative toilets also? There are also toilets in the clubhouse, which anyone is welcome to use.
