Ditch the car should you so desire – or indeed, arrive here deftly on foot on a Swiss trek, as the walkers' paradise site of Camping Cavresc is only five minutes from its local train station. Families, couples and intrepid solitary explorers all flock to this tiptop place among the Swiss Alps, for hols of a hiking sort as well as watersports of all sorts in the glacial waters of spectacular Lake Poschiavo 300 metres away (you really can ditch the car while at Cavresc should you so desire). Both outdoorsy picks will have you pitching up among mighty pretty mountain surroundings, plentiful facilities and spotless amenities – leading to accolades like 'fantastic', 'absolute gem', 'stunning' and 'beautiful' made about the site by its gratified guests. Camping Cavresc is under 10 minutes' drive from the town of Poschiavo, in the Bernina Region of Switzerland's canton of Graubünden, among rivers, valleys, glaciers and mountains. It's a friendly place with excellent facilities and amenities, including an outdoor pool, a play area, table tennis, a TV room, and a garden with loads of room to wander, run around or play. There's a bar-restaurant for meals, drinks and light bites too, to have in the comely indoor setting or out in the garden among views of greenery and Swiss Alps. Takeaway is also available, and barbecues are allowed.

  • The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.
  • A charge of CHF0.50 (€0.53) applies for the use of the shower.
  • The outdoor swimming pool is open between 01/07 and 15/09 (subject to weather conditions).
  • No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.
  • Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.
  • Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.
  • The bar is open between 01/04 and 21/10.
  • Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Liked Schön gelegener familiärer Campingplatz. Idealer Ausgangspunkt zur Fahrt mit dem Berninaexpress Richtung Chur (Bahnhof in gemütlichen 10 Gehminuten) Saubere Sanitäranlagen. Duschen perfekt, 3 Min. 50 Rappen und ausreichend wenn man Unterbrechungsfunktion nutzt :-) Sehr freundliche unkomplizierte Mitarbeiter. Freie Platzwahl. Für die Nacht auf dem Platz ist eine Taschenlampe Pflicht. T o p Wifi. Ausser Sonntag kommt am Morgen ein Brötchenmobil. Kleiner Laden Nähe Bahnhof. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen !

Liked The campsite is located in a beautiful part of Switzerland and well priced. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained.

Disliked Double check when you pay the difference at the campsite, I think I was overcharged and they didn't take into account the payment I had already made on pitchup.

The bathrooms were a bit small for the amount of campers.

We checked in late but it was quite difficult to find a spot, it would've helped if they provided a way to obtain instructions.

Friendly staff, clean facilities, just too noisy for us

Lots of vans leaving early as probably used for overnight stop so woken early

Liked Location ottima, un bel prato verde con piazzole non delimitate parzialmente ombreggiate, a 5 minuti dal lago (consiglio giro del lago a piedi) e a 5 minuti da stazione del trenino rosso del Bernina
Servizi igienici e docce sempre puliti e funzionanti perfettamente, docce calde funzionano con monetine svizzere ma non è un problema, cambio alla reception senza problemi anche in euro.
Ogni mattina possibilità di acquistare pane fresco al furgone (anche in euro).
Un plauso alla Sig.ra Ornella che ci ha accolto con gentilezza e disponibilità !!!
Torneremo.

Disliked In generale preferisco campeggi con piazzole delimitate, per un maggior ordine generale e una privacy personale.... ma devo dire che non ci sono mai stati problemi con i vicini che si sono avvicendati nei 10 gg di ns. soggiorno.
Mi permetto solo di suggerire una adeguata illuminazione notturna.

Local attractions

The deep blue glacial waters of lovely Lago di Poschiavo are within a couple of minutes' meander from the site for spectacular scenery and lakeside hikes. Woodland trails are close by too: ask the Camping Cavresc team for info on the best routes. Local town Poschiavo is connected to the Alps region of Engadin and the rest of Switzerland via the Bernina Pass, the high mountain pass linking the Poschiavo valley and St Moritz. To traverse it in splendid style, take the Bernina Express tourist train running all year round between Chur and Tirano; it's the highest railway route in Europe at 2,253 metres, so get pics aplenty to show off later. At the foot of the Bernina mountain range, about half an hour's drive from the site, the glacier mills area of Cavaglia is also mighty pretty for pics and trekking around. Access it 400 metres from the Cavaglia station of the Rhaetian Railway, either under your own steam or on a guided tour available from June to October.
