Water, water all around: family park Camping Tucan is centred in the Costa Brava, near the coastal town of Lloret de Mar, 600 metres from a white sandy beach, and only about a kilometre from Waterworld, the biggest waterpark in Spain. (Another big waterpark, Marineland, is 8 kilometres away.) And a big aqua park is on site too, with a swimming pool and curving waterslides… right next to the terrace for meals and with a paddling pool for the paddlers. Out of the water, Camping Tucan has a multisports area and a pétanque court, a kids' club, a playground with trampolines, a ping pong table and numerous organised activities like dancing nights and sports tournaments. An internet corner and wifi hotspots are also available for an extra charge. The bar cafeteria (open in high season only) sells fresh bread and pastries; stacks more essentials are for sale in the grocery store, such as fresh fruit, veg and – also an essential – freshly arrived steaks.

Route directions

By road: Coming from the south, take the Barcelona-Palafolls C-32 and take exit signposted Lloret. Continue on the N-II and then on the G-682 for approximately 12km. Coming from France or the north, on the AP7 take exit 9 signposted Lloret de Mar. Coming from the north-east via Tossa, continue on the G-680 for approximately 12km. By train: Lloret de Mar is a short drive from Blanes train station where you will find connection trains to Barcelona (every 30 minutes or so) and France. A frequent shuttle bus to Blanes train station, serviced by Transports Pujol, takes only 20 minutes. By plane: The closest airports are Barcelona Airport (75 km) and Gerona Airport (30 km). By boat: Frequent daily ferry connections to Blanes, Tossa and Sant Feliu during the summer season. Canyelles beach in Lloret has a visitors' harbour suitable for medium-sized boats.

Spain's biggest waterpark Waterworld is a kilometre away in Lloret de Mar and Marineland, a waterpark with dolphin attraction and zoo, is at Palafolls eight kilometres away. If you're here without the kids or have an obliging babysitter, Lloret de Mar is also known for its nightlife, bars, restaurants, clubs and casinos: see if you can find the tiny subterranean rock bar to spend a happy evening in… The town of Blanes, 'gateway to the Costa Brava', is eight kilometres away: wander around its botanical garden, take a boat trip from its harbour, or have a bask on one of its mountain-surrounded beaches. A bit further away at 45 kilometres, the shopping of Girona is (almost) as well known as its Gothic cathedral, walled Old Quarter, medieval architecture and Roman fortress. And finally, around 70 kilometres from Camping Tucan is Barcelona: you'll need to leave at least a couple of days for this one…
