Well now. Wherever you end up camping in Cordoba, we insist (insist!) on a day or two in Cordoba city. The capital of this Andalucia province was one of the biggest medieval cities on the planet, and is now a World Heritage Site with ancient buildings that even the kids might go jaw-dropped at, such as the Mezquita or Great Mosque of Cordoba which has dominated the city since the eighth century. (You’ll probably want to go back for another look at the end of your hol.)

Cordoba city is on the banks of the Guadalquivir river in the olive grove-laden land of the Guadalquivir valley; check the Local attractions section on our Cordoba campsites for details on getting out into nature after tapas and sightseeing in the city. Cordoba has several nature reserves and three natural parks – Sierra de Cardeña y Montoro, Sierra de Hornachuelos and Sierras Subbéticas – with oodles of options for outdoor activities like horse riding and watersports, and spotting rare wildlife including lynxes and golden eagles. And an olive oil tasting trip is a bit of a must, to pick up as much Priego de Cordoba olive oil as you can carry – again, we insist.
