- Grazalema 15 minutes’ walk; Zahara de la Sierra half an hour’s drive
- Hillside site with a swimming pool, supermarket and spectacular views
Spectacular setting in a UNESCO-listed natural park? Yep… Close to one of Andalusia’s most gorgeous white towns? Like your creature comforts? Yep to both of those… seems like you’re in the right place if you’re at Kampaoh Grazalema, 15 minutes’ walk from the the ‘pueblo blanco’ of Grazalema in the centre of the stunning Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park.
This family-friendly glampsite sprawls up a hillside, where stylish tipis in small tree-shaded gardens have outdoor seating as well as peace by the bucketload. Sleeping up to four guests, inside the tents are double beds, storage and wardrobe space, comfy seating and plenty of room to spread out. All sorts of other handy stuff is supplied too, including towels and bedding, electricity, basic kitchen utensils and air conditioning to keep you cool when the temperatures soar.
Dedicated, private-use bathrooms, a shared kitchen and a small supermarket for essentials complete the roster of practical facilities. More importantly, wherever you go on site – be it the stone picnic tables dotted around, the swimming pool or the observation point – there are gorgeous views over Grazalema rooftops to Fresnillo Reservoir.

Local attractions
To explore Andalusia on foot, follow the Sendero Puerto de las Presillas footpath (40 minutes’ walk) up Puerto del Boyar (a four-hour round trip) for impressive views across the peaks of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. For easier strolls, follow the Presa del Fresnillo (20 minutes) nature trails around Fresnillo Reservoir, and then catch your breath over coffee in a Grazalema (15 minutes) café.
Travelling by car, take the dramatic Route of the White Villages through western Andalusia to Zahara de la Sierra (half an hour’s drive), where you can climb up through cobbled streets to the castle on its rocky crag. In Arcos de la Frontera (50 minutes), have a look at the ornate Basilica de Santa María de la Asunción (built on top of former mosque) and then fuel up on tapas in Plaza del Cabildo bars, while Olvera (40 minutes) is home to a hilltop Moorish castle and viewpoints over hills planted with olive groves.
You can also use Kampaoh Grazalema as a convenient base for your touring holiday of Andalusia; head for Cádiz (an hour and a half) to see its striking white cathedral and lunch on seafood in El Pópulo restaurants, or take a day trip to Ronda (45 minutes) to walk over the 18th-century New Bridge, which spans the 320-foot Tajo Gorge.
