- Peaceful and scenic site on the shores of Silver Lake
- Spectacular views 10 minutes' drive from Veliko Gradište
- Fishing, bike hire, food shop and lakeside restaurant
This is the spot for restful stays in spectacular scenery, reckon the Auto Kamp Srebrno Jezero team – and how right they are: this gorgeous Southern and Eastern Serbia site is right on the shore of a lake, in a green setting and wildlife haven for laidback hols.
Auto Kamp Srebrno Jezero is by the water – and beach – of Silver Lake (aka Srebrno Jezero), on the right bank of the Danube and in the Danube valley. The lake’s clear clean waters are teeming with fish: bring your angling kit along to try your luck landing carp, catfish, pike and perch among others.
Around the area, this is the popular tourist setting of the Braničevo region, less than 10 minutes’ drive from Veliko Gradište. It’s a scenic and handy base to use for other east Serbian options and further afield: Požarevac is 40 minutes’ drive away and Belgrade an hour and a half. A waterpark and walking paths are in the lake surroundings.
The friendly Auto Kamp Srebrno Jezero staff have been looking after guests for years, and pride themselves on providing a service that will have folk coming back again and again. Amble along to the restaurant by the lake to see this fully in action: the Serbian kitchen dishes up traditional eats and drinks in a handsome waterside setting.
If you're going the self catering route, the site has a food shop and barbecues and campfires are both allowed.

Local attractions
Well, you’d have to start with a walk by the Danube, wouldn’t you? The mighty river has inspired much poetry, painting and music over the years, so who knows what kind of muse might take you as you stroll (perhaps snapping a few pics, at the least…).
Once you’ve strolled locally, notch the stunning river views up even further with a trip to Djerdap National Park (25 minutes’ drive), where the water cuts through huge craggy cliffs (and no doubt inspires even more pic snapping). Walks should be fairly straightforward here, as there are marked paths to follow; cyclists can follow the EuroVelo 6 path instead.
This gorgeous area isn’t a recent discovery – folk have been admiring it for many a century, and leaving behind remnants of lives that make for fine days out now. The medieval Ram Fortress (20 minutes) and Golubac Fortress (25 minutes) are both worth a visit, as are the remains of the Roman city of Viminacium (45 minutes).
For real history though, you can’t miss an outing to Lepenski Vir (55 minutes), a Stone Age archeological site said to be the oldest urban settlement in all of Europe.
