Local attractions
You can spend a lot of time around here just pottering about on the water or taking walks in the national parks. A favourite spot for the latter is the Posbank (25 minutes’ drive) – the highest local point has some great views and lovely walking trails for taking in the scenery.
If you’d like to mix in a few different days out though, you’ll have plenty of options. How about animal spotting at Burgers’ Zoo (half an hour) or Apenheul (45 minutes), or perhaps taking the kids for a magical visit to Het Land van Jan Klaassen (25 minutes)?
Meanwhile, those who prefer a cultural tinge to their days out can head to Vorden Castle (25 minutes) or the fabulous Kröller-Müller Museum (45 minutes), which holds the second-largest Van Gogh collection in the world. Bronkhorst (10 minutes), Zutphen (25 minutes) and Arnhem (half an hour) are all worth a visit for city wanderings, and you may like to take a step back to a different era on a journey with the Veluwsche Steam Train Company (35 minutes).
