Any time is a good time for a stay at Tuscany Time – this small, friendly site between Capannoli and Palaia (10 minutes' drive from both) is a place where you can slow down and enjoy some quality family time surrounded by splendid views of the Tuscan hills.
Days around here can be spent taking leisurely walks or cycling from village to village through olive groves, perhaps stopping off at the odd winery or café along the way. There are also some great museums to visit in local towns, and unusual experiences like a trip to the abandoned village of Toiano. You can also use this place as a base for city day trips – perhaps to Pisa (40 minutes’ drive) or Florence (an hour and a quarter).
The site has been designed to be a cosy and safe place for family holidays – the sort of site where kids can run free, meet friendly farm animals and play games in the open air. It’s all about appreciating the simple things, so there’s no long list of facilities here, but you will have access to all the essentials including a shared kitchen area, a sociable outdoor dining area and a small shop selling local produce, plus a launderette and bathrooms with toilets and showers.
