It's free, quick and easy!
- Friendly, spacious and peaceful site with direct access to the beach
- A 15-minute drive south of Manfredonia and the Gargano National Park
- Kids' and adults' activities and entertainment in high season
Partial to a watery vista as the backdrop for your hols? Why settle for just one when you could have two? Such is the setting of Apulia’s Campeggio Lido Salpi that guests can gaze out over peaceful blue views whether they’re facing inland or out to sea.
On the one side, a short stroll along a shaded footpath leads to a stretch of sandy beach, with a free area for games and a section kitted out with deckchairs, loungers and umbrellas to hire. Swing round through 180 degrees and it’s a few minutes’ wander to the shores of Lake Salso, a protected wetland area that’s a popular resting place for passing birds.
And there in the middle, 15 minutes’ drive south of the nearest town, Manfredonia, is a friendly site that stretches out over a spacious 10,000 square metres. Much of that space is filled with trees, including oleanders, Aleppo pines, olive trees and eucalyptus, ensuring there’s plenty of shade for those who need it on a warm day.
Bambini who are less content with snoozing under a tree all day can run about at the playground and games room, or get involved in the daytime activities that run throughout high season. (Pangs of jealousy? There are all sorts of activities and evening ents for grownups too.) Food and drinks to fuel all such antics can be picked up on site at the bar and pizzeria.

Local attractions
Can’t get enough of the watery views and activities? Drive over to Ippocampo Water Park (10 minutes’ drive) to swoosh down waterslides and splash in the outdoor pools. If you’d rather stick to natural waters, venture up to Vieste (an hour and 10 minutes) for boat trips to local sea caves and over to the gorgeous Tremiti Islands.
Equally gorgeous are the various views to be had around the Gargano National Park (15 minutes). Get set for walks and bike rides around 120,000 hectares of protected reserve, with some splendid sea views along some of the trails. The deeply shaded ancient Umbra Forest (an hour) is a fave spot for many, as is the hilltop Sanctuary of Monte Sant’angelo (half an hour).
Historyheads will also want to swing by Siponto Archaeological Park (10 minutes) and the convent of Santo Stefano (50 minutes). Mattinata (half an hour) is good for a meander if you’d like to follow up tours of 18th-century buildings and an ancient necropolis with an ice cream and a splash in the sea.
