- Luxury bell tents on a quiet site in classic Ligurian countryside
- A 15-minute drive from Dolceacqua and 25 minutes from the coast
- Private hot tub at each bell tent; breakfast included
What words might you use to describe Stecadò Glamping, a bell tent site surrounded by stunning Ligurian countryside? Peaceful, scenic and luxurious should all seem quite fitting, although romantic is perhaps even more accurate. Designed for two, each bell tent has its own private decking area with a hot tub (including jets) and two sunloungers, so you’re all set for slow mornings and romantic evenings in the open air.
Far, far away from any cities, this green site is surrounded by olive trees and an old vineyard. One of the closest places to see civilisation is Dolceacqua, a medieval village that has featured in paintings by none other than Claude Monet. After a 15-minute drive, park up to look around the castle, Castello di Dolceacqua, and the scenic bridge, or sample some rossese wine on a restaurant terrace.
Pretty Perinaldo, another medieval village, is within a 15-minute drive of Stecadò Glamping. However, if you quickly find yourself daydreaming about some beach time, head to the Italian Riviera first. It's only a 25-minute drive away, and Bordighera, 35 minutes away, also appeared in a Monet painting.
Back at base, the bell tents have a luxurious setup with a comfortable double bed, air conditioner and lots of cosy little details. Each tent has a private bathroom (with a toilet, shower and sink) just a short walk away. Towels and bed linen are included to help keep your packing list nice and light, and breakfast is provided for an easy and tasty start to the day.

Local attractions
Spectacular scenery is all around Stecadò Glamping in Imperia. At the top of your to-see list should be Apricale (20 minutes’ drive), a hilltop medieval village centred around Castello della Lucertola with stone houses, narrow streets and views over the Maritime Alps. No wonder artists have descended upon the village for inspiration over the years.
If you’re keen to spend as much time in nature as humanly possible, you might want to remember the name Rocchetta Nervina (25 minutes), where gorge trails lead to turquoise pools. For something more challenging, there are several hiking paths on Monte Toraggio (40 minutes), a 1,973-metre-high mountain in the Ligurian Alps.
Those who won’t be able to rest without taking a trip to the Italian Riviera can track down a gorgeous little cove called La Spiaggetta dei Balzi Rossi (45 minutes). Menton (55 minutes) is only a little further west, in French territory, and has a medieval old town with an 18th-century bell tower, museums and several beaches.
