Off to Athens? Fancy a stay by the beach? Or maybe you’re just after somewhere to stop over for a night or two before/after a ferry to one of the islands?
You can afford to be greedy and say yes to all three of the above if you like – the excellent location of Caravan Camp ticks all sorts of boxes for touring guests. This quiet motorhome/caravan site is right by the beach in Artemida, with sea views from all pitches and plenty of space to choose from around the 20,000 square metres of land. It's also a 20-minute drive from Athens International Airport.
All that space coupled with gorgeous views out over the gorgeous waters of the Aegean Sea means that this place is peaceful indeed – and yet it’s also rather handily located for Athens (which you can reach with a half-hour drive or on public transport), the Acropolis (an hour) and the ferries at both Rafina (15 minutes) and Piraeus (an hour). It's also a five-minute drive from one of the best windsurfing, kitesurfing and paddleboarding spots in Artemida.
Whether you’ve spent the day touring Athens or travelling on a ferry, it’s likely you’ll be delighted to find that you can finish your day on site with a swim at the beach just over the road, and then settle in for a sunset drink and snack on the sea-view terrace outside the tavern, which serves up various alcoholic and soft drinks, coffees and meals.
If you’d rather go for a self-catering approach (picnic on the beach, perhaps?), it’s handy that there’s a food shop on site, and a pubs, a big market, mini market, shops and bakeries a five-minute drive away in Artemida. Also on site are toilets, showers and a wifi connection to help with things like onward travel (and posting all your lovely pics of those aforementioned sunset drinks…)

Liked Ein schöner Stellplatz im Großraum Athen mit einem super Strand und sehr hilfsbereiten und freundlichen Betreibern. Nähe zum Ort und den Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und der Gastronomie.
Disliked Bei regnerischem oder stürmischem Wetter ist nur der gekieste Teil nutzbar.

Local attractions
If you’re able to stick around for a few days rather than rushing off to a ferry, there’s plenty to keep you busy around here. Perhaps you’d like to take the kids to see the exotic beasts at Attica Zoological Park (20 minutes’ drive), or soak up a little bit of history at the Archaeological Site of Brauron (10 minutes).
There are plenty of options for sea-based activities along this stretch of coast as well – including windsurfing, speedboat trips and scuba/snorkel tours to see what lies underneath the waves of the Aegean.
And of course, you may well want to fit in at least one trip to Athens – the city has heaps of things to keep visitors busy, whether you’re a first-timer looking to see the Acropolis, ancient market, Parthenon and Ancient Agora or an old hand finding new activities (a cooking class, perhaps, or a street art tour…).
