Decided on an outdoor break at Hüde in Lower Saxony? Choose family-run Campingplatz Dümmersee and you’ll have the choice of two places to lay your head. Whichever site you plump for, you’ll have use of a private boat harbour with slipway and crane, and access to all the water-sports facilities of sprawling Dümmer Nature Park from your pitch. So how to make your choice? Site C10 sits directly on Lake Dümmer and is handy for the beach, a surfing centre and school, boat rental and pedal-boat or paddleboard hire. It’s also close to an adventure playground, a mini-golf course and beach volleyball or boules courts – in short, this is an ideal base for families looking for lots of stuff to do. The quieter C12 campsite is about 10 minutes’ stroll from the lakeside in the centre of Hüde, and lends itself to stays with younger kids as it has an enclosed landscaped park and a small playground. Facilities available on both sites include modern shower blocks, a self-service laundry, dishwashers and washing-up sinks, as well as communal cooking areas (a small fee applies to the latter). If you’re not into self-catering, family favourites like schnitzels and burgers are served daily in Dümmer Perle restaurant, and you’ll come across a bakery, seafood bar, ice-cream parlour and a beach bar within 10 minutes’ walk.

  • A charge of €0.30 applies for the use of the shower.
  • Dogs are not allowed if you are staying in the accommodation units.
  • A cable measuring at least 9 metres is needed for the electric hook-ups.
  • If reception is closed on arrival: please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.
  • Rental accommodation: electricity is metered on site at €0.60 per kWh and is payable on departure.

Liked: Wir haben den letzten Platz auf der Sommerwiese erwischt und waren angenehm überrascht wie großzügig die Plätze sind. Alles sehr sauber. Die Sanitärhäuser sind sehr sauber. Wir kommen gewiss wieder. Trotz mehrfacher Regengüsse war die Wiese gut begehbar. An und Abreise war sehr einfach. Sehr nettes Personal.

Liked: Der Platz ist sauber und die Sanitären Anlagen sind relativ neu und ebenfalls sehr sauber. Unser Platz befand sich bei den Dauercampern. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und nett.

Disliked: Unser Platz befand sich bei den Dauercampern. Allerdings leider direkt zwischen Toilettenhaus, Duschen, Aufenthaltsraum und Müllentsorgungsplatz direkt bei der Einfahrt des Platzes der Dauercamper. Ruhe hätte man somit überhaupt nicht. Entweder war der Aufenthaltsraum mit mehrerer Leuten belegt und es war laut, da die Tür aufgrund der Wärme aufgelassen worden ist. Oder die automatisch schließende Zugangstür zur Dusche / Toilette schallerte den ganzen Tag ins Schloss. Der Platz hatte zwar einen eigenen Wasseranschluß und Stromanschluß, jedoch waren wir weit entfernt von den bezahlten 100 m². Es passte gerade so ein Zugfahrzeug mit kleinen Wohnwagen und kleinen Sonnensegel auf den Platz.

C10 Komfort Rasen fully-serviced grass and earth pitch (comfort)

Liked: The site was spacious with decent pitches. The facilities were modern, clean and of a high standard. Staff were helpful and friendly. There were a lot of people when we arrived at the beach and bar area but it was surprising how quiet and peaceful it was when we went to turn in. Very impressive site

Liked: De sanitaire voorzieningen waren uitstekend. Douche tegen betaling maar dat is niet erg als de rest goed is. Camper plaatsen je staat wel dicht op elkaar. Mooie omgeving en goed restaurant op loopafstand. Direct aan het meer. Vriendelijk personeel.

Disliked: Was even zoeken waar de receptie zat, camping bestaat uit 2 vestigingen in het dorp.

Liked: Sehr nettes Personal. Super saubere Sanitäranlagen.

Disliked: Ich hatte meinen Platz auf der Zeltwiese im Wohngebiet. Man musste immer dieses Gelände verlassen und durch das Wohngebiet, um zu den Sanitäranlagen zu kommen.

Liked: Schöner ruhiger und sauberer Campingplatz in direkter Nähe des Sees. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen gerne wieder

Disliked: Bei unserer Anreise sind nach 15 Uhr noch jemand auf dem Platz der das Last Check out gebucht hat wir kann trotz Buchung ab 15 Uhr erst um 16.45Uhr auf unseren Platz nach Anruf beim Platzwart wurde uns nur gesagt das wir dann warten müssen. Das finde ich etwas dreist. Da sollte man das System etwas überarbeiten das sowas nicht wieder passiert! Sonnst alles top 🔝

Dümmersee Nature Park is water-sports central, offering gear hire and lessons in everything from sailing and kayaking to windsurfing and paddleboarding on the lake. You can play golf, go for a swim, challenge your family to volleyball competitions and get the kids involved in mini-golf games… among many other sporting activities. Should you encounter a rare rainy day, simply divert to the indoor pool and sauna at Freizeitbad Dümmer leisure centre (five minutes’ walk). To explore deeper into the nature park, rent bikes and family buggies (10 minutes) to pedal the forest tracks, open moorland and boggy wetlands around Lake Dümmer. Maybe you’ll be lucky enough to spot storks, Arctic geese and cranes as you go – take the binoculars just in case. For spectacular views across forest to the wetlands of the nature park, clamber up to the top of the Dammer Schweiz observation platform (20 minutes’ drive). If everyone’s worn out with all the physical activity, head to the pretty village of Diepholz (15 minutes) for a nose around the moated, 12th-century castle and its natural-history museum.
