With tall mountain peaks, glaciers and plenty of impeccable views, Écrins National Park is a stunning spot for an outdoorsy break. Hautes-Alpes site Camping Les 6 Stations is at the southern end of this spectacular national park and armed with a snack bar for post-hike refreshments and an outdoor swimming pool for a morning, evening or afternoon dip. This dog-friendly place is in the middle of a forest, so the facilities have gorgeous views over tree-filled slopes – that means you'll be able to soak up that scenery whether you're at the barbecue area or chilling out on your green, green pitch. When you’re properly relaxed, it might be time to take a five-minute stroll to the river Drac where there’s a 15-minute trail to the centre of Pont-du-Fossé village. The village has grocery shops to top up your supplies, along with a bakery, tearoom, restaurant and microbrewery. That should leave you with plenty of energy to explore the national park, whether you’re planning to go hiking, mountain biking, paragliding, canyoning, climbing on via ferrata routes, rafting or canoeing. Arbraventure, equipped with a treetop obstacle course and zipwires, is a five-minute drive away. Camping Les 6 Stations is also a 20-minute drive from Station de Orcières Merlette, a large ski resort with epic views. During summer, this is a great launchpad for hiking, with waterfalls and mountain views being some of the rewards on the trails.

Liked: Camping decentrato rispetto al paesino di Saint-Jean-Saint-Nicolas e circondato da bosco e da una passeggiata percorribile sia in bici sia a piedi. Adatto a famiglie e a chi cerca la quiete e il silenzio nel campeggio. Dotato di molti servizi utili, soprattutto per chi usa la tenda. Nel complesso, è stata un'esperienza positiva! Da segnalare, però, sanitari un po' deludenti e offerta al ristorante/bar limitata.

Tous les clochés positifs réunis dans ce camping: des emplacements spacieux et séparés par des bosquets rendant l'emplacement très intimiste, un camping au milieu de la nature (des forêts à côté, au milieu des montagnes, à côté d'une rivière), quelques familles qui reviennent chaque été et pour cause; tout le monde est super accueillant et serviable.
Un camping donc familial, convivial, au milieu de la nature et des randonnées, des animations simples et conviviales (loto, jeux vidéos, ...).
Une piscine bien ensoleillé et en excellent état.
Le propriétaire, Pierre, qui vient d'arriver en juin 2024 est un vrai passionné !
Très à l'écoute, plein d'humour, hyperactif et réactif. Bref génial.
De même pour son équipe, à l'écoute et joviale (Léa et Cristal).

Bref, vous l'avez compris, on y retournera !!!

Local attractions

With so many mountains and hikes within a short drive, you might fancy a change of scenery once in a while. Gap (half an hour’s drive) is the nearest city and packed with pretty places to eat, as well as being home to attractions such as a 19th-century cathedral and a small 1900s museum with archaeological and cultural bits. There are markets a few days a week at Place Jean Marcellin. South of the site is Lac de Serre-Ponçon (45 minutes), a gorgeous turquoise lake where it’s easy to sit and look at the views or slurp on a coffee or ice cream. In Savines-le-Lac (45 minutes), get stuck into watersports, paddleboarding and boat tours. Ancien Viaduc Ferroviaire de Chanteloube (40 minutes) is an especially scenic spot for picnics, with the scenic viaduct stretching over the water. Planning to hike as much as humanly possible? You might want to make your way to the Valgaudemar (55 minutes) valley, where there’s a path to the top of Pic d’Olan and lots of gorgeous rest stops including Le Sechier (40 minutes), Lachaup (an hour) and L'Ubac (45 minutes).
