  • Family-friendly site 20 minutes' walk from medieval Rosans
  • 10 minutes' drive from the Baronnies Observatory for night sky tours
  • Outdoor heated swimming pool with sun terrace and mountain views
Just take a look at that swimming pool – ooh la la, it’s a thing of beauty with its vibrant blue framed by clusters of trees and a backdrop of Alpine foothills. And it's heated. And all those comfy-looking sun loungers to recline on as you take it all in. Frankly, it’s enough to make you grab your swimming cozzie and head for the hills tout de suite. Even the most ardent water baby probably won’t spend their entire holiday in the pool though, so it’s worth noting that Camping Les Hauts de Rosans does have other facilities available for guests. A sports field and playground give plenty of space for kids to let off steam, and there’s a games room/library for when they (or you) would like to cool off with a game of pool or table football. You won’t even have to drag yourself very far from the pool in order to get some eats, as the snack bar is mere steps away, ready and waiting to keep you refreshed with meals, drinks and ice creams throughout the day. By night it transforms into a sociable bar, with the terrace a favourite place to relax and enjoy an aperitif or two. Extra fun is laid on in summertime, with an entertainment programme that might include archery, pétanque tournaments and crafts workshops for young and less-young alike. In the evenings it’s time to let you hair down as you sing karaoke, join a moonlight swim or have a boogie under the stars. A small shop on site sells various bits of local produce including sausages and honey, and you can pick up other foodie needs in the village of Rosans, a five-minute drive or 20-minute walk away. Two toilet blocks are at opposite ends of the site, so you’ll never have to walk too far to reach one. They’re both heated at the start and end of the season, so no need to worry about chilly mornings. There’s also a launderette for guests’ use, a free wifi service and plenty of drinking water points around the site. All this, plus some beautifully landscaped gardens, with trees and plants dotted around for colour, shade and a bit of privacy on your pitch… you might just have found the perfect spot for your hols.

Local attractions

Medieval Rosans should be your first port of call – there aren’t any major sights here but it’s an atmospheric little village with some well-preserved buildings and streets to wander around. There are plenty of other lovely walks around here too; ask the site staff for suggestions to take you up into the hills or through the nearby lavender fields. To cover a bit more ground, make the 10-minute drive to Domaine de Risou and join a quad biking expedition into the surrounding hills. If you’d like to leave the ground behind, head over to Orpierres, 45 minutes away, for some great climbing routes to suit all abilities, or take the 50-minute journey to Les Barons Perchés to swing through the trees on an adventure course or zipline. If you haven’t quite spent enough time in the on-site pool, Nyonsoleïado waterpark is around 45 minutes away and has a huge outdoor pool flanked by beach areas, waterslides and waterfalls to play with. Another good place to swim is in the natural cool waters of the Gorges de la Méouge, 45 minutes away. Hike the two kilometres from the Roman bridge at Châteauneuf de Chabre and you'll have earned your cooling dip at the end. When night starts to fall, head over to the Baronnies Observatory, 10 minutes away, to learn about the night sky from its team of astronomers and, on some visits, look through the powerful telescopes. It’s not open to the public all the time so check ahead and book your visit.
