- Family-friendly site two kilometres from Arles: bus stop close by
- Beach, heated pool, paddling pool and three-lane waterslide on site
- Shaded play area, bar, restaurant and bike hire
A big and friendly family park, only two kilometres from the smashing sights of old Roman town Arles – and the facilities (and scenery) are pretty splendid too: have a hol at Camping L'Arlesienne, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur's department of Bouches-du-Rhône.
The names of the games here are getting relaxed and getting entertained: guests can take their pick from basking at the large beach or soaking/splashing at the heated pool and paddling pool, open from mid-May to the end of September and surrounded by sun loungers and parasols to soak up Mediterranean sun.
Kids have a shaded play area with a slide, boules court, ping pong and table football, and all ages can bop along to the high season evening entertainment and theme evenings with meals twice weekly. There's also a bar and restaurant open from June to September for leisurely drinks and/or dining on the terrace overlooking the pool. (Peckish in between meals? Order sandwiches, pizza, salads or chips from the snack bar to eat in or take away.)
Camping L'Arlesienne has bathrooms heated during the cooler months, washing machines and a small shop selling bread, pastries and ice cream. Bike hire is available in July and August.
Shops are in a large centre about a kilometre from the site; to get into Arles, catch the bus into town from the stop 200 metres away.

Local attractions
Camping L'Arlesienne's local city of Arles is so pretty it was the place that inspired many a painting of one Mr V van Gogh, and is now a place of events and activities, exhibitions and festivals and quite a few colourful Provençal markets.
As well as this, Arles is one of the most famed places in Europe for Roman remains, so trot along to see its amphitheatre and the Arles Obelisk among many other ancient sights; the Roman remnants of Arles have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981.
Also around the area are many top picks for walking, fishing and horse riding, with tennis courts and golf courses nearby, and local beaches like La Grande Motte or Saintes Maries de la Mer. Both these are in the Camargue area, a wildlife haven filled with opps for birdwatching and nature spotting: look out for the flamingoes and the wild horses.
You'll also be within easy reach of Nîmes, Avignon, Les Baux de Provence, Les Alpilles mountains and the ancient walled town of Aigues-Mortes.
