Calling upon the historic city of Le Mans for your next getaway? The city’s only a 15-minute drive away from Camping Onlycamp Le Pont Romain in Yvré-l’Evêque, so this is a hassle-free spot to base yourself indeed… Comfortable, too, with trees around the site creating patches of shade and sun and no noise permitted after 10pm. Set over one and a half hectares, there are a batch of gorgeous facilities, including a small snack bar, a pétanque court, a games room, a playground, barbecues for rent and a laundry area. When it’s relaxation time, guests gather at the heated outdoor swimming pool (open from June to August). There’s also no need to leave in search of fresh bread or croissants, with both products available to order every morning during high season. Back to that gorgeous location, though. Camping Onlycamp Le Pont Romain is a 15-minute drive away from the city centre and the city’s famous motorsports race course, Le Mans and its Circuit 24 Hours of Le Mans, which has simulator rides and go-karting for beginners. Heritage and cultural events often take place in the city centre. And what of shops and restaurants for when those hunger pangs hit? There are a bunch of restaurants in Yvré-l'Évêque within 15 minutes’ walk of the site, along with a supermarket and shops. Convenient, indeed.

Liked Sanitaires propres, salle commune avec des jeux, des tables et le nécessaire pour faire de la petite cuisine (une plaque, un micro ondes, une bouilloire, un frigo)
Des emplacements spacieux.
La personne à l'accueil qui nous a gentillement prêté un adaptateur car nous ne savons pas que c'etait nécessaire...

Disliked Les horaires de fermeture et ouverture qui dans notre cas étaient un peu contraignants. Nous avons assisté au gpexplorer et nous voulions partir tôt, mais les informations indiquaient une ouverture au plus tôt à 7h. Et finalement nous avons vu la barrière s'ouvrir avant le lendemain matin. Pareil pour le soir, avec les difficultés de circulation nous avons du nous dépêcher de prendre a manger pour pouvoir rentrer avant la fermeture

Liked I was contacted by the site as I was late, and instructions as to how to get in were sent to me. I was Also given instructions on how to find the nearest shop. This was super helpful, especially when you've been cycling all day.

The facilities were clean and all working.

The microwave in the common room, plus the room itself, were great, otherwise I would have had to eat in the dark.

Ease of picking your own pitch, on a big site.

Disliked We were on pitch number 60, which is at the top near the Gamping Tents, Unfortunately this meant we had to suffer quite a lot of, predominantly French, car drivers speeding past us on the morning and on an evening, and failing to observe the site speed limit. This was a shame because it was unnecessary.

Liked Choice of pitches, friendly receptionists.

Disliked Oak tree on pitch 9 & 10 needs to severely cut back to save damaging motorhomes!

Timer in men’s toilets needs to be set longer, unpleasant when the lights go off at night!

Disliked (but out of the site’s control) party by French locals 12.9.202025, very noisy until 2.30am!

Nous ne coupons pas les arbres s’ils ne sont pas morts, afin de préserver notre environnement. C’est aussi pour cela que nous laissons libre choix de l’emplacement (dans la mesure ou le taux de remplissage le permet), afin que chacun puisse trouver celui qui lui convient le mieux. Un emplacement avec un arbre aux branches basses peut parfaitement convenir, par exemple, à des campeurs en toile de tente.
Nous allons étudier la possibilité de prolonger le minuteur des lumières dans les toilettes hommes.
Nous regrettons la gêne occasionnée par la fête, qui était malheureusement indépendante de notre volonté.

Local attractions

The lovely Le Mans will keep you very occupied. Begin at the Museum of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (10 minutes’ drive), a huge part of the city’s history. There’s a number of historic sites that you’ll likely want to tick off one by one, too… The Royal Abbey of Epau (10 minutes), a former Cistercian abbey, is one. Another is the spectacular Cathedral of Saint Julian of Le Mans (15 minutes), which is both Romanesque and Gothic in style. Historic spots under your belt, you might fancy a light-hearted afternoon on the rides at the local amusement park, Papéa Parc (10 minutes) or on one of the steeds at a horse-riding centre (10 minutes). The zoo Domaine de Pescheray (20 minutes) will be another treat for those who like their different animals. And what about a peaceful day canoeing, biking or strolling aimlessly? The Water House (Arche de la Nature) (10 minutes) has quiet woodland walking paths, as well as bike and canoe rentals.
